i didn't do the post to be the big I am old head, I did it to stop people being complacent. There are plenty of fans who travel away with us who have never seen or been caught up in real trouble, It wasn't that long ago when i gave a similar warning before we played Spurs away in the cup, and how many families were caught up and terrified when their pub windows and doors came in and all sorts thrown around.
Like it or not, and let's hope it moves on from this situation, Cardiff still carry a reputation and are seen by many as a scalp and fair game, now some of our younger fans have almost romantic visions over hooligan times past, but lot's of us there know different and most of us have seen some bad sights.
I hope everything goes OK and I'm sure the Police will be all over it, just keep your wits about you and enjoy yourselves, and remember what can seem like a nice quiet back street pub with friendly away fans, can soon be full of a few dozen nutters summoned by a phone call.![]()

It's funny, over the years, my nipper has managed to stay out of trouble and learn to be 'street aware' PRECISELY because we went everywhere away with the City. You can smell situations before they start up and move on....just give places a swerve.
Sadly, despite the advise and despite gaining 'street awareness', sometimes you can just be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
As has been said, just keep your eyes open and learn to smell the 'air'.
They are pikey little gits though. Few years back on way to Bristol Airport to pick a pal up, on the hill by the cigarette factory (half mile from Ashton Bridge) got caught up in some road rage. Two Wurzells in a council van, noticed a little Wales flag sticker, start screaming 'you Welsh cnut!' and getting braver. So I got out of the car and walked to the drivers door. He went to open it and square up.....so I bopped him through the open window and legged it quick before the other lad could get around the van. Screaming after me through the various lights. Still see 'em shaking their fists in the mirror!
That was Aberfan payback from me!
Stay safe
