Showed some nice touches and seemed comfortable with the ball at his feet. Can see him coming off the bench to replace Taylor during the season and wouldn't look out of place.

O'Sullivan also looked ok. Looks a clever reader of the game with good awareness/vision and can pick a pass. Only negative is that he's too lightweight. Needs to bulk up a little. Good future ahead of him though.

On the negative (of which there were many) St Luce had an absolute mare and Nugent was completely out of his depth. Sainte Luce does look quick, but was not able to control the ball well enough, especially at pace. Nugent in fairness was up against 6'5 Clive Platt (ex-Coventry - who City's first team struggled to deal with last season) then the Akinfenwa later on.

Oshilaja at right back looked good for the first 45, but made too many errors especially in the 2nd half.
The same applied to Ralls. Was looking forward to seeing him play, but after a promising start he faded badly and contributed very little.
 I did say you should have hung it between the girders, using all our shoe strings ;)
After reading some of the previous reports about Lewis (especially against Newcastle) I was hoping that we had someone who could serious challenge Marshall. Sorry, but he looked very unsure on crosses and especially against the long throws. For such a tall keeper, what is he 6'5? To be flustered on aerial balls resorting to punching or flapping the ball clear. He nearly punched one into his own net. That sums his performance up.

Finally, Conway... apart from the most comical freekick you'll ever see in your entire life, he always looked a class above the younger guys around him but although his control and trickery were good, the final result was absolutely nothing. I was praying he's at least attack the goal. Not once. In fact, considering the Cobblers had a 3rd choice 17 year old youth keeper playing, City were abysmal in not making him work hard enough. Sorry, I'll correct that... not making him work at all.

I don't mind losing. You can't win every game, I fully appreciate that. But what does leave a sour taste is that we never tested their young keeper. It was the nearest you could get to legally forfeiting a game.

Was good to meet a few Bluebirds in The Rover before the game. Thank God I could walk home in under 10 minutes. Long way back to Cardiff after that performance. Roll on Friday.

Summed up very well, although i did think John did look his age at times, but did very well, i blame you (the flag on the seats, lol) just kidding  But we all know we have much bigger fish to fry starting this friday :ayatollah:

We had to burn the strings to take it off at the end as one of the lads tied it way to tight,
Maybe he was expecting a windy night :D

 I did say you should have tied it between the iron girders using our shoe strings ;)

I don't think this tested the 2nd string, more like a 3rd string. Promotion will require around 18 quality players (as opposed to 11 or 12 last year).

This lot are hugely stronger:

Marshall
Heaton
McNaughton
Blake
Turner
Hudson
Keinan (or replacement !)
Taylor
Conway
Bellamy
Whitts
Gunner
Mutch
Ralls
Kimbo
Mason
Gestede
Helguson
Velikonja
Earnshaw

Add the rumoured 2/3 signings and that is well over the 18 quality first teamers that most people would agree we need. If you factor in un-tried, but promising, youngsters like Harris and others that played last night and I think this squad is stronger in depth than any I can remember in my 41 years supporting the City :ayatollah:
