West Ham have received two enquiries about the availability of striker Nicky Maynard, one of which is from Celtic.

dont knw how reliable but wud be an awsum signing basically 15 goals a season for piss poor bcfc (124 games 45 goals) with the service he will be getting from our midfield he shud get more than enough to fire us to the prem, so what r sum fans on about saying hes crap they clearly avnt got a clue

Personally I can't see him joining us, he's on a good wage at West Ham and despite them signing strikers he will try and battle for a first team spot, he had Bristol City close to his heart so if he wanted to play Championship football he'd have stayed with them maybe? I'd love to see him here though and would be delighted if we pulled it off, would certainly get a lot of goals for us, a real goalscorer! I wonder who we'll go for though if we fail to get Maynard

Is that aimed at me? I couldn't careless what people think of me. The majority are appreciative of reading some facts and club info instead of the majority of the bollocks written on these things. My source has been 100% accurate this summer and has been weeks ahead of the media on all things Cardiff City. You seem to be the only one complaining

Now word is out I've just searched his name on Twitter and as Aberdare Blue above says, Celtic have been mentioned in the last couple of hours, along with Wigan

Wages are the obstacle and Leeds are in for him as well, even though Warnock is playing games in the press, Maynard is on his list of players he would like.

Maynard is on about 36k + bonuses at WHU so he'd have to take a cut to come here. Thats the issue.

Cannot, cannot believe anyone is complaining about us going for Maynard. He has
been a thorn in our side every time he's played against us. You can pretty much
guarantee he'd get 20 in a decent side in this division. Thats all you can ask of a
striker. So if we get him... i think he will be the instinctive goalscorer we have
been missing for years. Chopra was great, but far too inconsistent.

As for Kim Bo. I believe the deal is pretty much tied up with HIM and his agent. I
think (hope) its too far down the line now for anyone else to jump in and scupper
it. Kim Bo wants his new British Club finalised before the end of the Olympics and
he's certainly not going to be meeting up with anyone else for the next few weeks is
he!!!!

As for Maynard?

God help City players nowadays. Our new breed of fan seem to think they are entitled
to sign Wayne Rooneys and David Villas. Why are we signing Kim Bo etc when there's
a perfectly good Iniesta out there... lets go for him. Thats the mentality of some on
here.

Celtic will really struggle to attract players nowadays. They CANNOT afford big wages
and they dont even have three big games a season to offer a new signing. As for the
fact they are a 'champions league club'.... They have to qualify through the group stages
against teams like FC slavic bilic vilic sillic and Dynamo Donsbin yetski yeti Club....

I doubt there is ONE player who would sign for them on the off chance they might get to
play against Barcelona, and get thrashed every year.

The odds are better for a lad to play in the Championship and get a couple of games against
Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea every season in a Cup!!!!

west ham doubled our 17k a week wage offer so there must be an agreement for some of those wages to be susidised by west ham.
i woild also add that if we went up we would be in the same boat as west ham with a stiker not good enough for the premiership

Personally with the new look midfield, Nicky Maynard would be more than capable of tearing the championship a new arsehole

I agree with the Gent. Maynard seems to have lost his way at W Ham and is wrong striker for them. No doubting

Nobody is going to match his wages at this level, i think it will have to be a loan with us paying around £20,000 a week and WHU paying the rest, they can also put all sorts of promotion bonuses in to WHU like Bellamys original deal. You don't know if he is good enough for the premiership unless he's given a crack at it. But it was a very odd signing by WHU in January as it looks like he was signed to stop their rivals getting him so if this was the case both player and club will want to get out.

As a few posters have pointed out, West Ham copied the age old Birmingham mantra of buying anything half-decent that was available (as long as our rivals haven't got him, it doesn't matter we have 8 strikers on the payroll).
