You're mistaken I'm afraid, I'm no fan of UKIP and the idiot that is Nigel Farage.
Really? On may 14 you posted under the thread "who would you vote for" your reply was " ukip the only sensible optiion" as well as other quotes supporting ukib. Maybe your the one mistaken. Unless you'r just confused.

Immigrants I thought they were the ones illegally entering the UK ? Migrant workers from the EU are the Eastern europe and are free to travel and work here same as you can go to France or Spain. Ironically it was new Labour who pressed for a central europe and freedom of travel.

Yes I'm obviously confused about my own beliefs.
I would vote for UKIP against any of the three main parties, as I would like to exit the EU. Another dissenting voice in Parliament can only be beneficial. However I do not agree with the majority of their non-EU related policies, thus I would avoid them if there was a chance they could actually gain power.

Lol I missed that, that's also a general misconception to isn't it. Some people don't recognise the difference between an immigrant, someone who has gone through the legal immigration process and an illegal immigrant who sneaks into the country.

I found the area very insular and unwelcoming to anyone not from the immediate area.
Racism of any form is not nice and not welcome anywhere. We don't live in the UK anymore (nothing to with that incident I should add, the wife loved and misses the UK and would move back like a shot). So we are now both immigrants in Canada.
The vast majority of immigrants are decent hard working people who are only looking for a decent life for them and their families. Yes certain denominations tend to live close to each other, they dress different and look different and when isolated are subjected to abuse from the less enlightened of us. So of course they stay separate. The cure to that will be seen in future generations when their children and children's children adapt to the British way and Britain adapts in some ways to theirs (a blending pot).
Extremists are just that extreme and in the minority, unfortunately these get all the headlines and then general distrust is shown to whole communities and this in itself forces the wedges wider. This is wrong and how further racism is created without any attempt to understand and welcome the main people who are not extreme.

Your post pretty much covers my feelings on Racism.
Your wife, who is probably a lovely lady, getting stick off a load of 'hills have eyes' inbred Cumbrians.
Its not evil. Its ignorant. Racism, in its basest form is inherent in us all. Its a fear of anything 'different'.
Its always been there. But most of us grow out of our shells, meet different people from different
towns, Cities, Countries and cultures and learn that we're all just people under the skin.
My Brother In Law is as racist as f**k. I toy with him. I dont think he's evil, I think he's stupid.
I rip into him for cheering goals scored by black playersCall him a sell-out for buying his
newspaper in the local Asian newsagents. Call him a traitor for eating chinese food, and a terrorist
sympathiser for eating Indian food... its how to deal with it.
I'd LOVE to see a black player at the Euros pick up a banana off the pitch, eat it, beat his chest
like a gorilla... then go and score a hat-trick. THATS how to deal with racism
...you are spot on

I would like the goverment to utilise our many Islands especially in Scotland & screen them like the Australians do with refugees
