People are allowed a difference of opinion mate but that's a nice way of putting it bolloux to us all, nice way of talking to a fellow supporter

Thought he was a great linkage myself yesterday. More game time will see him grow hopefully (in footballing ability not size!)

I think hes poor and not much better than Parkin. Hes lethargic and lacks pace. The only attribute he has is he wins the odd flick on IMO

He is as much like Parkin as he is to earnie IMO, nothing alike at all.

Re: RUDY GESTEDE

He tries hard to be fair, he's just not good enough to play for us in my opinion.

I don't know if you were pissed watching the game ?? but I just watched the highlights & gestede won every single header unlike Carrol for Liverpool who won nothing! The boy will do well for us towards the end of this season!!

Totally agree, the difference was minimal. Certainly not 37.5m

7 months in English football and people write him off.

I wonder what some of you were saying about Whitts and Hudson after 7 months.

I rewatched the full game and he may have won the headers but 90% of them either went into dead space or to a Liverpool player and that's all he has in his game.

Yes it's something we need at the moment but I'd like to think we could sign a target man with a bit more all round game whether on loan or in January.

Re: RUDY GESTEDE

Rudy baffled the liverpool deafens throughout, they didnt know how to deal with him, He'l do fine, and he delt with the big occasion far better than JB ever did, give RG a braek!!!!!!!!!!!! :old:

1. Kenny dalglish singled him out as having a great game and being a right nuisance for his two centre backs who many have said are two of the best in the prem.

2. Malky thinks he is good enough and sees him every training session

3. Unbelievable how many of you can't see potential, or the effectiveness of having him on are blinded.

The two guys opinions mentioned count for a thousand city 'fans' who love to single out and slate players

I wouldn't trust Kenny's opinion, he's comparing him to Carroll, the biggest transfer flop in recent history.

Also I'd say that the potential is limited because he's 24 and by that point he should have more to his game than just being tall.

Personally I feel he does the job for city as a target man but he doesn't do anything else. It's great bothering the opposition centre backs but when all your headers you win go straight back to the opposition or into dead space it doesn't mean a lot.

Re: RUDY GESTEDE

quite a lot yesterday actually he headed the ball down to a midfielder and bought the player into play.

carroll is absolute shite yes, but kenny went on what evidence he had and at the time carroll was playing blinders every week...

gestede had a good game yesterday - especially when you consider the former strikers we had completely disappearing in the big games

I still disagree, Having watched the game live and again on iPlayer I don't think Gestede was as good as you're making out. He had a good game by his standards but I don't think he'll have his contract extended, especially if we make it to the prem.

Statistically target men develop a lot later than generally striker (Jay 26 when he came to us and started his best years of his career) than goal scorers that start as they mean to go on (Chopra was 22 when he came to us)

Never mind that he has spent years in basically gutter football and is in his first year in England.

The criteria for development some of our fans set is unbelievable, it's basically: 'Set the world alight immediately or get out.'

I only had 3 pints quite sober at the game lol :ayatollah: well you have answered my post he wins flick on's yes he did. But in my view he doesnt do anything else. Sadly over the course of the season he has yet to impress me in any game.

I'd never expect him to set the world alight but he looks so clumsy on his feet and has very little ball control. There's plenty of younger strikers that could be described as target men that have much better ability.

Of course different players develop at different speeds but I'd expect a championship standard player to have a lot more composure at this age.

Re: RUDY GESTEDE

Mon Feb 27, 2012 10:47 pm

If they had years of experience maybe but he doesn't, the standard of football the guy has had has been more detrimental that is bound to put him back. Championship is hardly a low standard of football, it wouldn't the (I think) 5th most popular league in the europe otherwise.

I agree with you Aramore, mind you heres hoping he does become the next Pele and prove me wrong

Re: RUDY GESTEDE

rudy baffled the defenders because he didnt know where he was himself most of the game, half the time we didnt have rudy or miller up top and had to rely on midfeilders holding the ball to let them actually get back up the pitch, rudy won a few headers not alot and when he did it went know where, only good thing of note he did was into extra time he actually controlled the ball down and passed back to gunnarson thats it, hes a nice lad but he cant controll the ball run with the ball or even pass, he can header but they dont hardly ever turn into anything, thats it im sorry and i dont like slating our players but its just an opinion

Re: RUDY GESTEDE

Mon Feb 27, 2012 11:49 pm

Rudy's class!

No - I seriously mean it, he's got good potential and the fact Malky (who's got so many things right so far, including yesterday's crucial line-up) picked him to start yesterday means a lot. He needs time. We're only in February yet

Re: RUDY GESTEDE

Mon Feb 27, 2012 11:53 pm

I thought Rudy played well against Liverpool,he won a lot of ball in the air. FFS he's a young boy and he will get better. Usual moaning fucks on here, they piss me right off.
