The " no knee jerk reaction" means what it is. Unless Mackay wants a particular player whom he deems would improve the squad or team, then he isn't goint to buy anyone for the sake of it.
West Ham eg may do a Birmingham a few seasons back and buy up players to stop other Championship clubs buying them, but I'd prefer to see us get in players who (i) want to play for the City and (ii) Mackay thinks will be of benefit to the club.
I suspect we may get a quiet deal done but if not, I'll be content with loan players so long as they are better thought out than ones like JET, JL Samuel & Bywater.
City certainly need additions; especially up front and out wide. An experienced central midfileder would not go amiss either.
