all the foundations were put in place for a sixty thousand seater stadium and you are right tony the future retail was outlined on the stadium plans along with the now proposed travel lodge hotel.
all the exit roads are as the original scheme so i would have thought there would only be minor tinkering to allow us to expand.

If the foundations are already in place then id imagine access/roads etc etc would be
small potatoes if there was a possibility of 60,000 supporters in Cardiff every fortnight.
Something would be done. 60,000 is some pipe dream though. itd be like a f*cking
mortuary in there

" TUESDAY 17th JANUARY 2012 MINI-UPDATE "
by carlccfc » Tue Jan 17, 2012 7:36 pm

As I announced on here last night Mehmet Dalman has been registered as a director of Cardiff City Football Club, Dalman is effectively replacing U-Jiun Tan on the board of directors. Dalman was registered as a director on 10/01/12 at Companies House. Dalman is a football man and as you have read probably today that he has been around football for a long time.

U-Jiun is pursuing other interests and he being replaced has no bearing on the Malaysians position at the club.

Dalman has spent weeks going through the due diligence process and I am told is not just becoming a director but will be investing into the club as well. He has experience and expertise at brokering deals and Dalman becoming a director bears more than just a coincidence with some information I was told last night.

Carlos, City have announced our new Director in this Saturdays match programme v Pompey :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Would we need 60,000 anyway? With promotion to the premier league I definitely see us filling a 35,000 stadium but 60,000 may be too much, at least for a while.

Carl,

I can confirm being involved in the planning process of the stadium somebody has thrown you a curved ball there mate! There would be no issues if there was a need (which is a debate in itself) to increase the capacity of the stadium to 60,000.
The footprint of the stadium is constructed for a 60,000 capacity three tiers stadium as per the original planning application. The club could not change from this (despite trying to save costs at the time) without a new planning application being submitted which probably would have taken another few years, and more risk and outlay on design fees? so decided to press ahead with the original planning application footprint. However the club did cut costs by putting in foundations for only two tiers so I am led to believe but i have never really firmed this up? If the club decided to add a second tier around the remaining three sides this could bring the capacity up to 44,000 and could be done fairly easy from a construction point of view without any major structural work to the stadium or its foundations, however I believe the club have looked at putting an additional tier on the Ninian stand which could bring it to around the 35,000 mark but no decision has been made on this yet.
If the club wanted to spend the money by carrying out major construction work to increase the stadium to 60,000 by adding a third tier the fact there is a harvester, KFC, or Mc donalds would not cause any issues at all.

The formula for working out entrance distance is fairly simple 60,000 divided by 109 divided by 8mts = 68 mts of entrances, with the addition of an extra walkway from the ninian stand to sloper Road, and a walkway from the grandstand towards Asda and the pod for pedestrians this would provide more than sufficient space to achieve that figure.

There was always retail planned in those Areas so that had already been taken into consideration during the planning and design stages.

Hope that clears it up for you

Thanks for that Vince and it is similar to what Ridsdale said at the fans forum at the Marriot Hotel in 2007. Just to clarify though, I always thought the stadium (as it is) could have a maximum capacity of 35,000 if it was fully developed on all sides.

It would be a pleasant surprise to find out the figure is actually 44,000. So could you please confirm that figure?

He just did, he said " If the club decided to add a second tier around the remaining three sides this could bring the capacity up to 44,000 and could be done fairly easy from a construction point of view without any major structural work to the stadium or its foundations"

What do you want him to do? type it out again? :munky2:

As for stadium capacity, no longer being able to expand to 60,000 isnt a problem. In the near future we will only ever need a 35/37,000 seater. But if we ever do need to go extreme, we can always get rid of the sand martin, KFC etc.. as we'll be super rich.

Not having a dig at O'Kane but being a Northern Ireland international at Torquay hardly makes him an obvious target.
