Dundee United have just played their 1st pre season friendly (Europa campaign starts in a fortnight). Goodwillie played the last 25 mins or so and apparently scored a great solo goal in a 2-1 win over Drogheda.

I'll see the goal later on the Dundee United subscription channel. 5 quid a month if you're intersted

:ayatollah: Just the one for just now

It's a strange situation for United. We have been told by the chairman we can't bring in any players at the moment (not even a freed Scottish Div 1 player) as we have spent our budget. We desperately need a centre half and and a wide midfield player (any loan options?). So, realistically we need to sell but we wont be short changed. If you sign Goodwillie for 2 mil I'll be happy as I think Cardiff are the best option for him and if we dont sell this summer, he'll go for peanuts next year or nothing the year after. After he has spent 6 years at DUFC since arriving at 16, I want to see him go on to good things.

Nice one zippy :D What a man.
I totally agree with your sentiments, if it was me personally I would definately pay the £2m asking price for Goodwillie as I know he will be a very big hit for us in the Championship and IMO he is worth that all day long. That transfer fee will certainly help Dundee United's cause and Goodwillie will certainly help our cause so it's a no brainer all round.
I think we might have a few players that we could loan you without a doubt, I have become, for some reason, very fond of your club and a few of your fellow supporters that have commented on here and also on your own board are very respectful of our club and not rude even though we have signed Conway and are going for Goodwillie, most clubs would hate us for taking their best players.
Total respect :ayatollah:

P.S thanks for doing the ayatollah :D

I appreciate the comments tenerife.

On the whole, Dundee United fans are a realistic bunch. We are very very unlikely to ever challenge for the title. We cannot compete with the wages on offer at the Old Firm, or Championship clubs. The highest earner at United will be approx 1.5 K a week. We understand that we are a stepping stone to better things for talented players. We only hope that when players are with us they give their all and appreciate the support they will always get from Dundee United fans (the Arabs).

Conway and Goodwillie have given us memories that we will always cherish. They have earned their move and most United fans understand ambitions players have to play at the highest level. If Goodwillie signs, we'll be looking out for your results and hoping he'll help fire you to the Premiership.

Once in a blue moon you get a lad like Willo Flood ( :ayatollah: ) who since being on loan from yourselves to us from 2008-2009 has fallen in love with us. Since moving from Celtic then on to Middlesbrough, he has decided to come back to us despite being offered at least twice his salary at numerous clubs across the UK.

Our memory isn't that short. Having watched him for several seasons at Celtic it was obvious he was in decline. Even on his good days he couldn't lace our current left back Paul Dixon's boots. You may as well sign our whole team. We're feckin magic :D

not a problem mate, I do understand where you are coming from and I truly feel for you, your supporters and your club.
I liked Willo Flood and I feel that he wasn't given a fair chance at Cardiff but I'm glad he went to you on loan which was good for him and yourselves and now that he has decided to go back to you, what a genuine fella.

No need to feel for us mate. Just the way football is.

This is how to make yourself loved at a club.

Willo Flood May '11 - "I had options down south and in Scotland but the main thing is being happy. I know playing for United gives me that. I loved living here and having a lot of friends here was a massive factor. This is a great football club. I know everyone here and I know I'll be happy all the time."

And knows a good club when he's at one.

Craig Conway June '11- "I spoke to Willo Flood, who was with me at Dundee United for a while, and he had nothing but praise for the club."

Looks like your club and my club go part and parcel ;)

Very Good luck for the coming season to Dundee United :P

You lot do what you do, and carry on being aamb.

2 seperate mb.

Inter board squabbling is cringeworthy.

What annoys me is when you get one or two on CCMB attacking something this board has said with other posters disagreeing with them.

Yet people talk as if the entire CCMB board has been attacking this one!!!!!

I can't speak for the particular crtitcism of CCMB regarding posters on there attacking the story of Goodwillie flying down because the perosn who mentioned it didn't put a link to the thread, and I'm not going to plough through pages on there trying to find it

Perhaps if people are going to criticise they can provide a link to the actual thread they are talking about to see if they are right or not

Interesting.

You get people on here allowed to criticise those who criticise those on CCMB creating complaint threads about this site. You don't seem to get people on CCMB slating those there who routinely post threads criticising this site. Indeed there you get a subset of users who create accounts, in some cases multi accounts, to then regale a captive audience with tall tales of how they posted perfectly well only to get banned...
