Well firstly, where is "their country" exactly?

Secondly, the point is that protest is tolerated in this country. You however would stick him behind bars because you don't agree with his protest. That is a very slippery slope.

If I would have burnt the Koran in public when I was working in Saudi Arabia I would have been thrown in jail and then would have been deported.

Freedom of speech is a trait of this country which we are all proud of.However that does not mean it should be abused and this is what exactly these extremists are doing. Under the Public Order Act this guy should have received a more severe punishment instead of one that is less than a parking offence.

If you live in a Country then respect that Countries laws and traditions this 'protest' was intended to inflame and cause a reaction and although i believe strongly in freedom of speech and the right to protest. There as to be a line drawn somewhere and i believe insulting the memories of our war dead crosses that line.

If the law (Which is a complete arse) dictates that the punishment for such an action is a £50 fine then the punishment must be universal and should apply equally so if somebody burnt the Koran outside a mosque for example then the punishment should be a £50 fine but somehow i don't think it would be

My great Grandfathers fought in the first world war so obviously i aint as old as you  but you should not speak so flippantly about the Poppies then. Yes some inocents are going to get Killed!! but our Boys and Girls are not trying to kill them, not like the one's you are trying to defend. I don't see the Taliban trying to build schools ETC. Yes there needs to be a war on terrorism including any threat from the IRA. Do i agree with what happened in Iraq ? NO it has been left a very dangerous place. The Taliban needs controlling because we will never beat them or eradicate them. But do not get me wrong the Taliban is everything that is EVILL in this world and i hope every one of then die a slow painful death. But back to the Poppy burning they are traitors and shouting anti west slogans ETC. So yes obviously they don't belong here kick em out they are repulsive [/quote]
