Why is it becoming members only to view, could somebody please explain (to appease the cynics amongst us!)?

Please dont take carls updates away from us.

And , I have no problem with being needed a member to view. In fact I agree with it. If you want to post or even just view then take a few minutes of your time to register because Carl's updates are worth it (and I'm sure it takes him a lot of time to compile them - so take a few minutes of yours!!!)

I do want my comp to log me in automatically tho

The Members, now there's a blast from the past..

I don't give a shit what you do guys, it's your board, an excellent board with many diverse characters but as it relies on people giving up the own personal time to "look after" it then its up to the them. I for one could not make enough time to assist in the running of the board but, as non UK resident (don't worry Fish I'm not a muslim, worse,I'm from Brecon ) I rely on the info from here to keep me in touch with the famous Cardiff City.

Mikes board used to be the dog's bollox for all things CCFC but unfortunately the PC lefty fuckwit lot took the board so now its gone to shit. Not Mikes fault at all, he'd have to have sat up 24 hours per day 365 days a year to keep it straight.

Why not have a "Members" area then the rest of the site can be "free".

I'm off to smash up empty buildings, shit in the road and give old people a hard time, christ I'll even go on strike if the AMB becomes "exclusive"

To ask another way, what's the obsession with people registering? Why do you want people registered who won't bother posting anyway?

Seems like a case of making rules just for the sake of it, what about people who view for a number of different places? It becomes a pain in the logging in all the time, really seems pointless to me. I know I've gone to look at other clubs boards and they've needed registration and I've then thought f**k it I can't be arsed and just left their site. I expect many will do the same here.

Can see the logic behind this, though I rarely log on as I mainly view the forum whilst at work. Keep up the good work. If forum does become members only I'll just have to log in!!

Also you didn't answer the question about why the obsession with making people signup? These same people will signup once and never post, so what real benefit is it? Added to that people who only view once every now and again will forget their passwords/usernames and just not bother reading. ive been thinking about signing up for a while.. this pushed me over the edge though i got a bit worried with the maths question too lol

Since this topic was posted 30 new members have signed up including me as I write this.

The reason members may have a disagreement against it, is because we all have friends who aren't members but are Cardiff City fans, I can't understand why anyone would want to exclude them from reading about a football club that belongs to none of us, but we all support.

But nobody is excluded, ANYONE can join!

The will or won't comment was aimed at you saying people were being made to join, no one is forcing them to.

So what is the virtue of stopping non members from viewing the board?
