Chris Holmes wrote:Annis, if you are ever in Nottingham there is the Partizan Tavern there.
I was there a few years ago, it was set up by a guy who opened it up after getting a redundancy payment.
He went to see Notts County youth play Partizan Belgrade and fell in love with the club, and goes over there when he can.
Here's a bit of background...
Partizan Belgrade v Notts County Youth in 1990 was an obscure youth football fixture that serves as the famous origin story behind the Partizan Tavern, a popular, award-winning micropub in Sneinton, Nottingham.
The Story Behind the Match The Trip to Belgrade: In 1990, lifelong Notts County fan and former electrician Tony Perkins (along with Alison Perkins) traveled to Serbia to watch a youth tournament fixture featuring the Notts County Youth team against Partizan Belgrade. The Inspiration:
The match and the unique experience left such an impression on Perkins that he became a dedicated, lifelong follower of the Serbian top-flight club. Initially, the trip inspired the couple to run the popular Notts County football fanzine, The Pie.
The Pub: Decades later, in July 2021, Tony opened the Partizan Tavern on Manvers Street in Nottingham. The micropub acts as a shrine to this crossover history, with its walls heavily decorated with Partizan Belgrade football kits, ticket stubs, and programmes gathered from his travels.
Here's a few pics of the place I took from my visit to the bar..
