I know what you mean. I saw them on the same tour at the Capital in Cardiff. No support they just played for nearly 4 hours including the break. Incredible.

I've spoken to a few people who saw Pink Floyd at Earls Court and every single one of them have said the same as you. It must have been out of this world for everyone to say the same thing.
That's interesting to hear as it's always resonated with me as the best I've ever seen if I had to pick only one. They released the "Pulse" album of those shows too if you ever want to listen, it really was something else and on another level to anything else I've seen.
If you ever get chance, do see Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets as they do all the early stuff and they do it very well, next best thing to seeing the original line up doing it in the 60s

Unfortunately I never got to see pink Floyd but I have seen the Australian pink Floyd and highly recommend going. They put on a great show and are coming back to Cardiff in October £40 a ticket. Well worth it.

I've heard that the APF are the next best thing and very good. I saw Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets at the Millennium Centre last year and was blown away. Gary Kemp was on guitar and a revelation, very talented and Nick Mason's drumming was as expected simply amazing. He's a hoot too when he chats to the audience. It left a lot of PF fans very happy and looking forward to when they play again, their also on Spotify too, do give them a listen if you like the early stuff.

I’ve seen Australian Pink Floyd a couple of times and fair play they are brilliant. Also seen Roger Waters a few times and he puts on an incredible show too.
As for Floyd’s Earl Courts shows in thev90s,they were just amazing and any beyond everything and at the time.Great set list that included the full dark side of the moon with an amazing stage show.

Yes capacity would have around that. Barry Memorial Hall had a capacity half that but a little bit later I also saw Status Quo supporting Slade at the "memo". Hard to believe, but bands did gigs like that in those days. Slade were at their peak and Status Quo were just making it big again after having a few hit singles a few years earlier. Not surprisingly it was packed. Cost around 50 pence!!

I always thought my mind must have been playing tricks on me because I could have sworn I had seen Status Quo in Barry where I was born & raised until I was 15 and moved to Scotland. I always thought I had dreamt it, maybe not. When was this JJ?
My grandparents had their 50th wedding anniversary at the Memorial hall & family came from all around the world, my father had 16 brothers & sisters but I digress.

No your mind is right. They played there twice. In about 1972 they played and it was quite empty. They had had a few hits in the late sixties but had gone of the radar a bit. Eight of us were coming back from the Barry Boys Comp school youth club and managed to bribe the bouncer for a quid to get in - that is 12 and a half pence each! Just after that they made it big again and played the memo with Slade in what was probably the biggest gig in Barry ever.
Barry used to have some good bands. Rory Gallagher, Lindisfarne, Mott the Hoople, Free to name just a few played Barry in the seventies.

Sounds like we hung around in the same circles & frequented the same places. No doubt our paths crossed.
Loving this thread though.

I was teenager in the early to mid seventies, so if you were as well and you went to the Memo and followed the City our paths must have crossed. My problem in those days was being into rock music and having longish hair I sort of stood out on the Grange End and at away games where most of the lads were skinheads and were into soul and reggae !!
