as a player hes had his day as a coach /manager unproven inexperienced so another gamble if given the job we honestly need experience dont mind rambo being a coach with someone more experienced but on his own its a no no

Birmingham had a manager last year who was inexperienced and hadn’t even played professional football and he did alright.

They also had provably the biggest budget ever in that division and a giant squad of quality they were .bless ahead of anyone else is tan going to pump in 20 million this season.?

Ah. So the goal posts have moved now that’s the point has been proved wrong. All I’ve heard was it’s just inexperience but it’s actually not that it’s the squad fault now and budget. That hasn’t been mention before. Last season 87.5% of league 1 managers didn’t achieve the goal of promotion for their club, the numbers higher if you include the number of managers changed. So the odds for success are very low from the get go.
The most inexperienced manager in the football league won the division at Birmingham. Experience doesn’t mean success.

You used the wrong example? Mckenna and howe both took inexpensive clubs from 1st to premier league in successive seasons snd they were totally inexperienced managerial wise and did it on a low budget! ..... lots of newbies do good jobs but all can't get promoted....its not so much about experience it's about infrastructure around that person? If club get it right and presumably rambo knows what he wants then it could work.....its a gamble but then again all appointments are.

'By far'?
What would he bring to the job that others, with much more experience, wouldn't?

I have heard the hold up is that the offer Choo has given to Ramsey from the Hierarchy is lower than low and Ramsey is in a bit of a shock as it’s way way lower than he could of imagined.

They are now trying to do it on the cheap cheap.

It’s over and done with Nathan Jones as Tan wanted to pay the compensation over 5 yrs to Charlton and we all know how that works if ended another court case

Why is there this obsession with experience ?

Bulut and McCarthy had experience at a much higher level and look what happened there !

The Jacks have frequently appointed inexperienced managers and, to be fair, most of them worked out.

Many of us are gutted that we didn’t appoint Bellamy, he had no managerial experience but doing a great job for Wales.

If we don’t take the opportunity to appoint Ramsey I just hope we don’t have similar regrets further down the line.

For me Ramsey is definitely worth a gamble, he’s intelligent, has good connections and will know how he wants to play. I just don’t understand why people have such strong reservations ??

Dave Jones, Malky and Warnock were experienced, and they were our best Managers in the recent past by miles, Trollope, Hudson, Morison and Omer were terrible and eventually brought us down to League one.

Tan and the board would have to be absolutely mad to try it again.

We need an experienced good Manager.

He was paid a high salary from us due to his level as a player as one would expect Now he needs to be paid at a level for the experience he has as a manager. Whatever we pay him if he becomes our manager it is a major gamble in any circumstances

Neither did Pep Guardiola when he was appointed manager of the Barcelona B team. he got them promoted in his first season. He was made manager of the Barcelona first team the following season. Others have been made managers without any experience and also done well, so we should not let past mistakes by our board affect the chances of other applicants.
Is Ramsey the best of the people who have been mentioned? I think so, but let's be honest, the standard of applicants has been poor, to say the least, even for League One level

Re: I’ve just been told : Good News for many

Might well work out. Who knows?
One thing we do know that it's a gamble and now is not the time for a gamble on a rookie manager.
I'm sure Ramsey's time will come as city manager but now is not the time.

Beside this people are not exactly confident with any of the other names mentioned and they're experienced? So as I've said it's not the lack of experience that's the problem it's who helps him that could be problem.

Re: I’ve just been told : Good News for many

Thu Jun 05, 2025 9:32 am

This is true. The clubs problems run deeper than just the manager, there's no denying that. However this just looks like ground hog day to me. Cheap option again. Same old same old.
Hudson, Morrison, Trollope, Riza etc

Re: I’ve just been told : Good News for many

Thu Jun 05, 2025 9:34 am

Would I support him? Yes as I would whoever gets the job.

Would I be happy with the appointment? No.

I feel we need an experienced manager with a back room team who are equally experienced.

The money Ramsey has been taking from the club whilst spending his time on the injury table consistently for the last two years has left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth in my opinion.

Got to agree with you on that.
In the three games he took charge of, despite the wrong results, I thought that both he and Gunter did pretty well, trying to knit together what was the most unbalanced squad we have ever had, it was a pity there were not three or four more games so we could of got a better idea if this partnership would work

But our club isn’t setup right for inexperienced managers.

As for Swansea, they have a football identity and it’s easy for them to bring the right manager in and which players to recruit.

The experienced managers you highlighted were terrible choices before they even got here. Experience or inexperience, sometimes it’s pretty obvious which is need and the type of manager if you are pretty good at talent acquisition or recruitment.

This club doesn’t have the above, so we need someone experienced who can handle most duties of manager and above. If we go inexperienced, we need a DoF and a great coaching setup to make it work.

100% agree Roath

Re: I’ve just been told : Good News for many

Thu Jun 05, 2025 9:37 am

I have mixed views. All managers started off with no experience, Bellamy included, and some excel more than others. Aaron will have learned a lot from clubs like Arsenal and Juventus and will have a good grip on up and coming players.

He also has a good name and I suspect people will want to play for him.

The most important thing for me he is a bluebird through and through and for me that is a big tick.

There are some negatives, regarding experience, but that said if we have a lot of the players we had last year we should have a good season irrespective as to the manager - and team morale is the main quality to have in a promotion team

If true I hope it works out, but it's the same as most of the other appointments.... cheap and internal, with no experience.

I would, and I would also be the same about the Irishman Jonny Evans now that he has retired. If he wanted to be a manager, it is the potential in a player that counts, not his nationality

Re: I’ve just been told : Good News for many

This won’t happen BUT….

I would like to see just exactly how much the Wasserman sporting agency were paid and the work they carried out, including any managers spoken to, interviewed and any on the “shortlist.” I don’t believe they would have gone through their process, just for us to end up at this point with Ramsey which is where we were when the season ended.

I believe Wasserman would’ve carried out their work and made their recommendations. These have then been ignored by the clowns in charge who have gone after Jones. Once that hasn’t happened, has any other manager pulled out because they knew they weren’t first choice? Then that’s left us with the hierarchy once again trying to do it on the cheap as they have made a pig’s ear out of the whole thing.

Clearly we will never know as the hierarchy’s communication is non-existent as they are NOT football people and do not understand what supporters want and what is important to them. As long as they are here they will continue to destroy our club
