It's also absolutely standard to every single manager recruitment/player recruitment thread on football forums ever. We've hit the bingo of all input. Groundhog day. :laughing6:

Allan, I assume you meant Roger, but you are correct anyway. It seems certain people just want to knock down anything and everything connected to this club and a very important appointment

I’ll be straight up here, I was told late yesterday that Des Buckingham has been offered the job subject to tying up the loose ends of a contract, which could take a few days

If true, and I think it to be highly likely now, we have made a potentially sound appointment; particularly with the club’s intention to work with their highly rated youngsters going forward

A little more patience and the new man will be announced and the ‘knockers’ can go quiet or have a field day (as is their want)

If this is true why hasn't the club announced it all this speculation is making us a laughing stock. This toxic club is just getting worse by the minute you couldn't make it up we are into June tomorrow and dictator Tan has still kept silent treating us like shit.

At last! Good news as it seems like a sensible appointment

If he is keen on a high press then Callum Robinson won’t be his cup of tea! Maybe an added bonus that we sell him.

Re: " DES BUCKINGHAM "

I think he's the best of the names apparently shortlisted I'd be happy with his appointment

I just hope Plymouth don't nip in and take him, there fans seem to rate him and he's still favourite with the bookies for the Plymouth job

A squad where the highest paid player was earning 17.5k where the highest fee paid was £1 million.

He got Oxford promoted a year early. Started quite well. Lots of injuries.

I will roll with whoever but a lot seem to be wetting themselves at someone who has been sacked back in dec and no club have come in for him,
it might work out fine I hope it does but I will wait and see before I wet myself with excitement if he is the best of a choice of 3 fair enough .
But be honest he is a budget appointment tan was not going to pick a higher grade manager to make sure we win division 3 at the first attempt.
The bigger picture will be how much will tan spend on new recruits and cover all those that have left this should tell every fan how much the club ambitions are.

What's a high grade manager in league one?.

Why have a league 1 budget ?

Tan could push the boat out, no need for a budget that's "my point" no need to be on a shoestring budget

This was Liam Mannings team. When Buckingham took over they were in the automatic promotion spot and on chasing Pompey for top spot. They had 35 points from 16 games but then the form was mixed to say the least as they eventually finished 15 points off automatic in 5th place. So I don't buy this "he took them up agenda." He won the play offs fair enough but up until then he didn't really do much.

Manning’s team were sliding down the table and it was felt that he left while the going was good.

Des Buckingham transformed the team from functional to attacking football.

He was under a lot of pressure especially after losing 5-0 to Bolton but after an international break it finally clicked and the team started playing which eventually took them up.

The season before Oxford had almost been relegated so what Manning did was brilliant but he left for the Worzels.
