Andy Legg played over 30 games as we got promoted and was offered 30% of what he was on and was disgusted by that treatment.
Let’s not make out that it’s only the current ownership who have dealt with players this way upon their contract being up.

A players holiday wont change the timing of the club releasing their retained list, so its possible he had a few missed calls or emails asking him to contact the club. In all likelihood he knew when the announcement would be made, and he obviously wasn't checking his phone and if he was that concerned did he chase it up himself with the club.
Is this a joke a few missed emails and phone calls , you could not make it up.
Sol 1000% would of then contacted them back.
I just spoke to a man who did work for Sol while he was away and he was able to contact him every day, I’m sure Sol would of soon noticed .

Life is more important than our club or money.
There was No respect given.
I have just looked at my fb and there are now over 400 replies and only two disagreeing , they all can’t be wrong.
For me this is shocking and a new low for the Committee.
I personally have fought cancer and other life threatening illnesses over the years. It has affected my job prospects and definitely dented my wealth prospects but that wasn't the fault of my employer, it was just really bad luck.
I accepted my situation and got on with my life, although I didn't have the luxury of being a multi-millionaire to cushion the blow and I didn't slag off my ex-employers in the press.
I would accept this could have been handled better if the version we have been given by Sol is true and accurate.
However, the 400 people you speak about on Facebook haven't heard the other side of the story from the club, nor have I. Until we do we can't really judge how badly (or well) this situation was handled.
As I have said before Sol Bamba earned a very good living whilst he was at CCFC he should be grateful for that, because frankly having been in his position health wise I find self indulgent that he is crying about it in the press.

For that’s why I can’t see how any Cardiff fan could not agree that’s a disgrace by those in charge of our club.

I think i speak for most City fans in wishing Sol all the best for his future and thanking him for the good memories had during his time at Cardiff. Agreed.
As others have said, Sol starts by saying he won't have a go at the club and then does exactly that![]()
To be fair to McCarthy he's taken a lot of the responsibility for this. He said that he didn't have a space/role for him in the coaching team and didn't see Sol playing much of a role on the playing side.
It is disappointing that he found out via Twitter but if contract talks had already ended it would hardy have come as a major surprise.
The other thing is that Sol has made it quite clear that he wanted another season playing, he wasn't going to get a look in on that front so that was probably a major factor too.
What's sad is the way that some people on here have, yet again, used such an instance just to have a pop at the owners. It happens under all owners, including the much lauded Hammam. Kavanagh was flown by helicopter in tears to Wigan against his wishes, other have already mentioned Whalley and Cork and there were others.

Do you believe Sol Bamba should have been given a new contract simply based on the fact he had recovered from Cancer?
Or should the decision on a new contract been based only on whether he was worth a new contract playing wise, i.e. his worth to the squad?
I believe fully that the only judgement is whether he can contribute to the squad and that would be highly unlikely. The club looked after him whilst he was ill and paid him until he recovered i.e. they honoured their duty of care to the player.
Also isn't it a little hypocritical to state that we should give a contract to a Cancer survivor who would-not play much when you moan constantly about Vassell and Tomlin who never play due to injury and take huge salaries out of the club?
If you want the club run properly (as do I) then there are times when difficult decisions have to be made. Put frankly I don't want my season ticket money wasted on a player who can't offer value for money.
As for the handling of the situation then lets wait until the club gives its version of what happened before pointing fingers.

Sol Bamba should of been given an offer as for me he was actually willing to take low wages and as a player coach I personally believe we had a great future manager, my view.
As Sol was so ill and had gone through hell and back he should not to have had to find out via Twitter their was no place for him at Cardiff City that’s why I am upset.
No respect given.
But then No player should find out via Twitter anyway.

awful, but you can’t even compare to Sol Bamba after his illness
Sad your still clutching at straws to do Sol Bamba very sad
This is a really difficult one to give a balanced opinion on as there has been only one side of the story given so far - the one that all the facebook posts have been based on before hearing an explanation from the club.
If Sol was actually only notified by Email that there was no role for him at the club going forward then that is really poor on the part of the club and they should apologise in a statement clarifying the position. If , however , Sol was told by the manager that he would not be given a role as player or coach in the club system (as Sol himself seems to indicate in his article ) then he can hardly honestly claim that he was unaware that he was not going to be re-employed at the end of his contract. Still poor of the club not to speak to him at director level if they didn`t but we just don`t know if that was the case or not.
Sol seems to be a really nice guy and was a great servant to the club in his time here but it is not possible to say if he would have gone on or will go on to be a good coach or manager as that is simply not proven. He couldn`t really have stayed here as a player as (very bluntly) he would no longer have been good enough. Together with the combination of Mick McCarthy bringing in his own backroom team and the fact that we already have a proven very highly rated person in charge of the development system in David Hughes , there was also no role for Sol there either.
I wish Sol nothing but the best in his future career and in life in general but would like to see the full picture from both sides before forming a proper opinion on his treatment on leaving the club.

I think what people are annoyed about is that he found out through social media, not so much that he wasn't given a new contract with the club. For what he gave to the club, he deserved a phone call, at least. I know there are two sides to every story but what has sol gained from expressing his dissapointment with the club? Whether what he is saying is true or not.
