Take Boro for example, Pulis finishes 7th with them just missing out on the playoffs at the end of the season, they draft in a ‘younger, fresher manager who will play a modern style of football’ in Woodgate to start the following season and look where that got them fighting relegation, ‘old school’ Warnock in to save the day! We were primed for Premier football before Tan came along.

Now we are destined for years mid table Championship under his ownership. We have actually gone backward with him. Best owner? Why because he has money.

We had momentum, but we absolutely were not ‘primed for the premier’ before Tan game.

We were a basket case - uncontrolled debt, court cases, HMRC and Peter Ridsdale...who everyone on this board couldn’t wait to get rid of.

With Tans money we have been able to be relatively comfortable and seen two promotions. I totally agree that we should be better off than we are either in league status or structures within the club, but let’s not look back with rose tinted spectacles and believe that everything in the past was better - it really wasn’t.

Top of the league and debt free when Sam was forced out by the egg bastards.

Firstly we were top of the same league (after 11 games) that we are in now - we’ve been promoted twice since and been to two cup finals.

You know Tan was the one that got the ‘egg’ people out of the club - after they’d got the new ground built.

I don't particularly wan't to full out with you but if that ain't "Gilding the Lilly" I don't know what is.The fact is there was not 1 dissenting voice when Mr Tan took over,not one and believe me you only have to read this forum at the time to see no-one thought the squad was primed for promotion.Some of us were there too.

Take the jacks for example. I’d rather watch us play that attacking, exciting style with a young manager with fresh ideas and tactical awareness than going backwards to the Pulis style of old fashioned hit it up to the big man tactics and defend for your life.
