First city/ever game was against maesteg park in the old welsh cup 1992/93 the year we went up, city won 4-0 we wore our away top at home cos maestegs kit clashed.

First away game was Bradford city 1993/94 I was mascot before the game Nicky Richardson took me in the ground as the stewards wouldn't believe my dad I was mascot. If I remember correctly a city fan had a heart attack that day.

I played on the Ninian pitch at half time in my first ever game. Think it was against Halifax Town, and Earnie was a fresh faced youngster in his debut season (of regular football with us). Think he scored a hat trick actually. Distinctly remember my mam thinking the fans were shouting "Negro, negro" at LeoFortune West (of course it was actually Leo! Leo!

No sign of 'squad rotation' or 'weakened sides' for top flight clubs back in those days, was there?

First Cardiff league Game: Cardiff v Newcastle 25/02/81
First Away Game: County v CCFC April 1983

I did see CCFC in a friendly match at Aberystwyth in early 80s but cant find details about it.

Been following for over 32 years and have visited 35-40 grounds in process. Only lived in Cardiff from 82-89. Lived all over and have seen CCFC play every team in league except Everton, Man Utd, Crawley, Stevenage, Fleetwood, Morecombe, Accrington and Wycombe.

Take 2 of my 3 sons as often as possible. On the train tomorrow. Can't wait. :ayatollah:

First proffesional football match was Wales v Russia down the Vetch early 80s.

My dad would sometimes take me to watch Merthyr when I was a kid but not that much. The 87 Welsh Cup Final stands out in the memory.

I did go down Penydarren Park when i was a teenager in the glory years and to look for birds but would never say I was a fanatical Merthyr fan.

My first league game was actually to watch the Jacks  My cousin thought he was going to make his debut at Walsall away so we all went along but he was 14th man and to make matters worse it was a f*cking nil-nil so never got the bug for them thank f8ck. :malky:

When I was 15 my first City game, was Hereford away - on the train. January 92. Drew 2-2. Took 4000 and it was wild day from start to finish. From that day was hooked.

First home game was Burnley (league leaders) a couple of weeks later. 16,000 there. Rammed in the Bob Bank. Bit scary at times getting swallowed up in the congestion but it was great!!! Oh we lost 2-0 as well but in those days who cares about the result eh?

"One man went to mow, went to mow a meadow....." a great chant thats never heard anymore .

Went a few more times that season but 1992 / 93 I really caught the bug with the Darling Buds of Eddie May team. I had myself a part time job and all my money went on casual gear and following City. Made most aways that season and dont think I missed an away after xmas.

Me and Nanny Mcphail who posts on here struck up a friendship that season that has lasted 20 years this year :malky:

Earliest memory of a game is Wales v Scotland home international at Ninian 1975. I was 7 and my mates dad took us and we were in the back of the grandstand top left. Lovely sunny day. Lots of drunk jocks in tam'o'shanters who I remember as actively encouraging the cheek me and my pal were giving them, much to our delight. Do they still make Tartan beer?

:laughing6: I'll always tell the truth, and to be honest I dont believe in that those days we gave as good account of ourselves as we should have done (Despite what some think). But If you ever speak to anyone of those guys who 'came to have a word with us' that day. Ask them what happened after, and if they enjoyed being battered all the way to High St station! :laughing6:
