Wow the UK have just stepped it up no it's no essential travel to the Spanish Islands, from Gov.UK

From 27 July, the FCO advise against all non-essential travel to Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, based on the current assessment of COVID-19 risks in the country.

This advice is based on evidence of increases in cases of COVID-19 in several regions, but particularly in Aragon, Navarra and Catalonia (which include the cities of Zaragoza, Pamplona and Barcelona).

The FCO is not advising those already travelling in Spain to leave at this time. Travellers should follow the advice of the local authorities on how best to protect themselves and others, including any measures that they bring in to control the virus.

If you are returning from Spain you will be required to self-isolate on your return to the UK, but the FCO is not advising you to cut short your visit. You should contact your tour operator or airline if you have any questions about your return journey.

Everyone knows Spains numbers are higher than 28k if you add everything together as are a lot of other countries including the UK, 45k more deaths than last year speaks volumes in Spain. They changed the way they attributed numbers at the end of May and have been in single figures every day since. It is exactly the same reason Chinas numbers are so small.

They only attribute deaths now if they actually die because of it not with it or if they have previously had it like the UK which in fairness to Spain is probably the right way and should have been done like that from the start and all this panic could have been avoided.
Maybe every country should be using the same method ?

There should be a few different totals given by all countries.

1. Died directly of Covid
2. Died with Covid
3. Died with Antibodies
4. Number of confirmed cases
5. Number of suspected

We could then see a true picture of what is happening
At least it gives a true number.

Great news lock them down and stop the spread, things are improving with quicker measures locking down on areas with sharp increases in cases.

What does my head in is he's on about the second wave in one breath then telling people to go back to offices etc and catch public transport in the next.

If he was really worried about a second wave then he would be urging people to stay working from home over the winter surely.

This is all about money now, nothing more nothing less

Holidaymakers in Spain have been given hope after the UK government revealed it is considering setting up regional travel corridors to let those travelling from low-risk areas escape quarantine.

Transport minister Baroness Vere of Norbiton confirmed the idea was being investigated after pressure from Madrid over the change to travel advice made by the government over the weekend.
“We are urgently looking in to re-opening areas where it’s safe for the British holidays makers and regionalising looks a good option.”
