What kind of advice is he getting and from whom because rest uk advisors seem to be at odds to WG ones, when boris says going to do something drakeford says our advisors say no and yet a week or so later he says on advice from whoever we can do same as boris even though nothing had changed from time he said no... add this to illogical

That five mile rule is just to stop people going to beaches and tourist areas, I suppose once he opens it up there will be a free for all, I can see Tenby being absolutely packed when he finally does open the rules up.

He seems to be wanting to protect West Wales and North Wales especially Snowden and Tenby type areas.

Hes stopping people from west wales going to beaches I have whitesands 3 miles from me that's it, there are few places within 5 miles of tenby and most other beaches come to that....so only locals at beach! But his rationale for 5 miles is to stop spread of virus which is illogical and badly thought out unless you want keep virus in the citys?

That does seem to be a big part of what he is trying to do but he's giving no indication of how he intends to deal with that going forward other than keeping those areas closed indefinitely which will of course ruin their economies which rely so much on tourism

I'm sure he'd like to keep those areas closed until the autumn when he'll then say that we're into the next Coronavirus "season" and they'll need to remain closed until the following spring.

Re: Wales Announce that this year staying closed as

Wales has been leading the UK in slowing the spread of coronavirus, new figures suggest.
The latest estimates of the R number, which shows the average number of people every person with coronavirus is infecting, show it has fallen in Wales to between 0.5 and 0.8 - with a most likely mid point of 0.7 as of May 29.
This is a fall of 0.1 from the previous week according to the latest estimates from the Centre for Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Disease (CMMID).
It means that modellers expect the number of new cases being reported every day in Wales to halve roughly every week. They predict the halving rate is every 7.8 days in Wales - the fastest rate of decline in the UK.
All four governments of the UK use the R number as an indicator of how much the virus is spreading within a country or region.
The CMMID data shows that the rate of spread of coronavirus is slowing in all parts of the UK except the for the South West England, the region with the highest R-rate in the whole of the UK, at 1.0.
Here, it's estimated cases of the virus will double every 90 days.

So what are you trying to say Pembroke Allen?
It's safe to open up Wales and if more people die, so be it!!!
In the Rhondda at least 106 people have died, we don't want anymore dying needlessly.
The economy can be rebuilt but lives can't.
The figures are there to see and we are best placed of the 4 nations.
Why is that Allen?
Because Welsh government has taken the necessary measures to stop the spread of the virus.
And you want to open up Wales before it is safe to do so and cause unnecessary deaths, because that is what will happen.

Spikeferndale

There will be nothing to open if drakeford keeps this up,businesses will have folded, people in england have been able to travel for a month now we are still locked down
our R rate is lower than a lot of england and has been for weeks, and why not have a weekly review instead of a 3 week review people need a little hope that things are going to change drakeford is getting to high on his pedestal with his power, fhe also does' nt look the sort who is particularly bothered about wearing shorts and enjoying the coast in all its forms he's in his own little office bubble life,
Spitting image would have a field day with him if the program was still running.

I quite liked the fact that Pembrokeshire still feels like the 1970’s in many ways, there’s not much there, it’s not like Cornwall etc....think it’s going to be more like the 1930’s by the time Drakefords finished with them. A lot of people losing their livelihoods to protect hardly anyone from something that barely affects healthy people under 60.

Safe to do so when will that be next year? We have same info as rest uk same type of advisors uk say ok to open up areas welsh gvmnt advisors say no! But then a week or so later drakeford says under advice we can open this area even though nothing had changed from previous statement..... our levels have been low for weeks parallel to rest of UK or lower? So guess you believe we should stay in lockdown until no deaths for weeks then open up whenever that may be ? 6 months a year who knows do you... his measure is dont go more 5 miles even a blind mouse can see that is pathetic considering 5 miles in Cardiff gives you up to 300k people to infect in my city its 2k.. where is the logic in that? As for economy being rebuilt mmmm when 2025 certainly not next year that's for sure.. and finally I couldn't care less when it opens up as I live in a nice bubble carrying on with little effect from corvid.....but there are thousands upon thousands of people who do care as it's there jobs at stake...

No infections in st davids or surrounding areas even though have visitors to holiday homes! And yes it is lot less here than Cornwall but very large numbers rely on tourism for living
and that as gone along with the jobs, but outsiders think keeping us locked down is ok because economy cam be repaired one day? I may want lockdown to be eased but I have no axe to grind either way.. but when all the bodies looking after tourism want it eased that tells you things are not good.

Waiting lists have doubled so if want knee replacement 3yrs is the wait probably longer....
Experts already said thousands could die because no treatment or access to specialists! The problem here is extremely acute as only limited drs and space to see them.. and if social distancing is not eased soon patients will lose transportation to hospitals as service I provide can only take 1 patient instead of 3... 106 corvid deaths will look good in comparison

Gonna put my name down now for a knee replacement just in case

Can we sell our slot then if not needed?

been saying it from day1 mate... surprising how many people just don't want to hear it...scared out of their skins with covid propaganda...the rhondda ? 2,000 people will die there in a normal year and the chances are if spike were to die its far more likely he would be one of the 2000 than one of the 106...same as me..

Drakeford is an imbecilic moron who needs someone to tell him the price of fish

He is living in his own little bubble and needs to wake up to the real world.

Instead he’s living in cloud cuckoo land. The country has to move on. Why can’t he trust people to use common sense and follow basic guidelines. Nobody wants to get ill granted, but if he continues to strangle Wales like this it’ll be too far to return.

Drakeford needs to grow a pair.

What kind of advice is he getting and from whom because rest uk advisors seem to be at odds to WG ones, when boris says going to do something drakeford says our advisors say no and yet a week or so later he says on advice from whoever we can do same as boris even though nothing had changed from time he said no... add this to illogical
decisions been made like the 5miles rule incompetent out of deapth out things that springs to mind ... :|

He'd be out of his depth in a kiddies paddling pool :occasion5: I'm now stuck in this country (well 5 miles of it  ) I have just noticed I am 8.3 miles from cardiff airport,so have hatched a plan to not break that 5 mile radius for travel,I have friends in Rhoose, he can drive 5 miles to meet me,I can drive 5 miles to meet him,get my brother to take my car home, get in my mates car,and he can drop us to the airport  maybe I will have to fly this year,as I can't do jack sh#t at home :banghead:

What a great idea with such a logical mind you should take place of mr Dopy as 1st minister? I'll vote for you...

This was obviously tongue in cheek allan  as even the not so clever can see I'd still be travelling more than 5 miles ;) and I'd do better than that wet flannel, in truth so would my pet parrot ( versed in repeating himself ;) ) glad to have your vote though  :old: :bluebird:

The mans total idiot saying he understands the consequences of lockdown for umpteenth time! But he wont or cant make a decision to help any businesses by hiding behind advisors ? Both want to be seen as leaders of independent countries and of Westminster? so do not want to be seen as lap dogs to boris political posturing really..... but scots have stopped being obstructing to stopping lockdown hence can do more than Wales...but dopy is just incompetent and out of his depth and making illogical decisions just to prove he is in charge of Wales

The wet drip is just waiting in the wings to see if England have a spike in infections and then say to his adoring nation “well it was right to not relax the restrictions.”

He needs to get some gonads.
