We do however need to remove the organisation from the position of a publicly funded service provider. Need to get on with that as soon as the current crisis is behind us. This isn't about Dominic Cummings really, its about turning over this government. He's just provided the first step.
I would add - TV Licencing is not a criminal offence these days (I think) - so if any TV licence person knocks on your door - tell them they arent coming in. Better still put a notice on your front gate - no visitors whatsoever due to corona.
the BBC needs a good kicking, when the dust settles sort em out Cummings, we don't want to have to pay for that biased shit, sack them all
You don't have to have a TV licence unless you watch 'live' broadcasts or the BBC iPlayer. You aren't being forced.
1.The TV enforcement officer has no more right to enter your home than the school lollipop lady.
2. It requires a warrant from a magistrate and for that they need to have reasonable evidence of an offence being committed to get one. Saying that your address isn't on the database isn't evidence.
You will however be regularly pestered by a letter from Capita threatening you with a visit. (See 1.)
There, now you never need to watch or pay for the BBC ever again and you can stop moaning about them.
But surely that would be breaking the law, or certainly some rules?
I couldn't possibly do that, we're Cardiff City fans, and as you can see above we are all saints and no one has ever broken a rule, except Jock once, and he was drunk so that's fair enough
What I've told you is absolute fact. So when your current licence expires you know what to do. You don't need to speak to them, write to them or answer your door to them. You've not entered a contract with them once your license expires so by law you don't need to. I've not had a TV licence for six years.
No more BBC for you unless you still want to pay for an organisation you claim you don't want to pay for.

Someone may or may not have watched it. After all we can watch it on any portable device too. It's a law that has become very hard to enforce. You might be interested to know that there aren't and never were any actual detector vans. Just vans with detection van on them with fake antenna. It's all public deception. There have been numerous freedom of information requests about those vans and the number of people caught and convicted with evidence provided by them and there are none. The way it was done previously was that a man had a list of homes without a licence came around and if they saw a TV on in that house it meant you were definitely watching TV without a licence. No ifs or buts you were caught. These days there's Netflix and YouTube and catch up TV and if you run a ethernet cable between router and TV/TV box there's no signal to detect anyhow. They aren't live broadcasts so no licence is needed by law.
As I said, it's hard to enforce. You can write to Capita if you like and declare you don't need a licence and there's nothing they can do. They'll still harass you with letters now and then. You can send them a notice of Removal of Implied Right of Access to stop them coming onto your property. If you don't want to pay the BBC you really don't have to.

The bottom line is that this is a choice between right or wrong. The rules were there, no unnecessary travel, no moving to second homes, people with symptoms should stay at home and self isolate, etc. He broke those rules and undermined public confidence and, as a senior advisor, he simply has to go.
If he had said "I made a mistake, I'm sorry, I misinterpreted the guidance and accept responsibility" he might have got away with it but anyone trying to justify what is clearly wrong just has to go. Whatever the political views.
Boris needs to be careful how long he lets this go on because much longer and he'll have some more difficult questions to answer.
He's no longer up against Corbyn who was a buffoon, Keir Starmer is methodical and a man for detail and PMs questions will be pretty difficult for Boris if he hasn't sorted this by then.

the whole political landscape has changed in the UK as political parties have moved more to the left. Now anyone who doesn’t agree with Momentum is pigeonholed as Far Right, Extreme Right or even (by the retards who walk amongst us) Facist. Strangely the BBC never call anyone extreme left, go figure. The difference in media coverage between Cummings and Kinnock proves it’s political and driven by those real fascists who identify as Leftwing.

No travelling with sick wife, no travelling about sightseeing once at destination, a visit of hours rather than weeks with no contact with others.
Kinnock was wrong and police commented on it and did not take it further. Cummings however .......................
Kinnock also admitted he as wrong and did not try to defend it; unlike Cummings who can't see that he did anything wrong unlike the majority of the population.
He said he was delivering essential supplies. That's trying to defend it in anyone's book. Nobodies even asked him what the essential supplies were though. Looked like cake and food to me. Cummings broke the rules in the presence of his wife and child. Kinnock broke the rules in the presence of a Former EU commissioner, a former MEP and a former Prime Minister of European country. Christ it was not far off a World Summit on that North London doorstep. You'd have thought one of that four would have seen an ounce of sense and kept Stephen Kinnock the right side of the bridge. An American express gets you into lots of places, seems like a social workers card get you off a lot of front pages.

The BBC wheeled out political grandee after political grandee telling us the party were broken and for good. They ran 100's of stories of leave voters who'd apparently changed their mind and would now vote remain. Where did they go on 12th Dec. They see Dominic Cummings as huge factor in stealing victory and the death of Brexit from their hands.
Truth is he saw through their propaganda and paradoxically seems to be more in touch with the common mans thinking than most would give him credit for. Sure he's in trouble here, he shouldn't have broken the rules as he did. At the moment though he's already won the war. Instrumental in delivery the party from the depths of despair to a huge majority. Brexit will happen whether the BBC like it or not.
We do however need to remove the organisation from the position of a publicly funded service provider. Need to get on with that as soon as the current crisis is behind us. This isn't about Dominic Cummings really, its about turning over this government. He's just provided the first step.
the BBC needs a good kicking, when the dust settles sort em out Cummings, we don't want to have to pay for that biased shit, sack them all
You don't have to have a TV licence unless you watch 'live' broadcasts or the BBC iPlayer.

It's only the right wing sympathisers that are making this political.

Are you seriously comparing the Kinnock visit with what Cummings did![]()

But where am I defending Kinnock ? I said he was wrong but that the breach was nowhere near as serious or potentially damaging to others as Cummings' was !
You appear to be defending CummingsSurely you can see the difference between the two incidents, both were wrong and in contradiction of guidelines so how can you defend Cummings ?

how is it nowhere near as damaging.... the only way that holds water is damage to public opinion which lays with a witch hunt in one case and a degree of understanding in the other...

OK I'll try and make this simple. The reasons why Cummings actions were potentially more damaging as follows:
1. He undermined guidance (of which he had a detailed understanding) on not travelling to 2nd homes
2. He and his wife were both exhibiting symptoms (immediate 7-14 days isolation in your home for everyone else)
3. He went sightseeing whilst away, got out of the car so clearly a risk in transmission and another non-essential journey
4. Even if we believe the childcare story if he and his wife had been positive they planned to ask family in adjoining property to take care of the child. Whilst the child would probably been OK there is medical opinion that they can still carry the infection which would place those family members at risk of further transmission.
5. He had childcare options in London with his sister, his choice to travel to Durham not a necessity
6. He travelled home again and on the way stopped for petrol, exposing staff to impossible infection.
7. He still thinks he did nothing wrong which clearly has to bring question marks against his judgement

So elected MP breaks guidelines but it’s ok because he didn’t break them as much as Cummings. The Scottish Tory who resigned “on principal Bwhahahahaha “ travelled from the North of Scotland to Westminster because he claims his Internet was only adequate and Gravy veined clown SNP Leader Blackford also travels back and forth between London and Edinburgh but that’s ok because MPs are frontline workers. I’ve said several times Cummings should resign but this really shows scum like the BBC up for what they really are. Leftwing blinkered vindictive parasites, who thinkif Cummings goes Brexit will e delayed and ultimately stopped.
