I haven't seen Coxe play well either, but we are not Man City scouts so what do we know ?

Cameron Coxe released.....

Bit of a shocker but unfortunately yesterday and today 8 Under 23 players have been released by the club.

Cameron being the most high profile of the youngsters.

Steve Morrisons brush is sweeping clean.

Paid up until the end of the season but all eight are clubless having been told they’re not good enough and shown the door.

Looks like Harris and Morison ain’t messing about.

Cardiff City wield the axe as Cameron Coxe one of eight youngsters told they have no future at the club

The Bluebirds have told eight young players they will not be offered fresh terms when their current contracts end and we can confirm once-highly-rated prospect Cameron Coxe is the highest-profile casualty

Cardiff City have told eight academy prospects their contracts will not be renewed, with Cameron Coxe set to be the highest-profile casualty.

WalesOnline can confirm Coxe, who has been widely-regard as one of the more promising players in Cardiff's academy in recent years, is one of a clutch of youngsters who have been told that they are

not in the Bluebirds' future plans.

Shamar Moore, Jake Evans and Lawrence Wooton are thought to be other players who will leave, while there are a further four, whose identities are as yet unknown, who are also likely to leave upon completion of their current deals.

Coxe, a Wales under-21 international, has been tipped by many fans and ardent followers of the club's under-23s to go on and have a successful career and that might well be the case.

However, it appears his days at Cardiff City are numbered.

The 21-year-old right back was given two senior outings by Neil Harris in the FA Cup games against Carlisle United, but failed to really grab his opportunity with both hands.

It prompted Harris to say repeatedly that Coxe needs to go out on loan to gain some experience of senior football elsewhere, whether that be League One or Two during the transfer window or in the National League thereafter.

It was telling, too, that on transfer deadline day, Harris recruited young Dion Sanderson, a year Coxe's junior, from Wolves to provide back-up to Jazz Richards following the exit of Lee Peltier.

It will come as a shock to many, especially as it was reported Manchester City were once interested in signing the young Bluebird.

"Unfortunately it's true lads," Coxe's father Neil said on Twitter when responding to the rumours.

"It's a shame but it wasn't to be, hopefully he can kick on somewhere else now."

The concerning contract situations of two key Cardiff City stars in limbo and the transfer decision Neil Harris has to make
While reports and rumours on social media claim the players have been released immediately, we can confirm that is in fact not the case and all players will be allowed to run down their contracts.

This does mean, however, the players affected can begin to plan for their futures and other clubs are now free to talk with them and take them on trial.

While Steve Morison took over as Cardiff City's under-23s coach almost a fortnight ago, it is understood this is a decision that was made by the academy management.

Well man city will take coxe start if the season. a promising player.

man city have tried last jan and in the summer to sign him. but the clubs refused to sell him and now been let go.

crazy decision.

Do you actually believe that or are you being sarcastic.

some people just don't want anyone to leave but had we kept every single player that people have moaned about being released over the years our under 23s would now be playing in the veterans league..

I take the Coxe to Man City rumour with a pinch of salt, could have been a devious move of an agent. When we signed Scott Malone he was bigged up having reportedly been tracked by Man City and Borussia Dortmund....he was good but not that good!

Name one.

Semi Ajeyi. Though Coxe isn’t good enough for this level. Will end up having a decent lower league career. Brown is the one I’m worried about with his contract up at the end of the year. Should have been starting for us this season. Watch loads of the under 23s and he is the best player we have had in the last decade by quite some distance. If we let him go he will end up eventually being at bigger club than us just like Ajeyi did.

Could have saved millions by promoting Brown instead of wasting all that money on a old average player in Flint.

Coxe is 22 this year and can't break into a championship side.

Exactly how much time do you want to give him? This isnt a talented 18 year old we're talking about.

This was addressed earlier. Ajeyi wasnt our youth player, he was Charltons (who let him go) we signed him as a senior player. Of all the players we have released over the last 10 years,( youth and senior) ONE of them ends up playing in a team 10 places above us in the table! Well done Semi Ajayi, managed to prove us (and charlton, Arsenal, Rotherham, wimbledon and crewe) wrong.
Gotta love this forum for going over the top!

Some of the comments here are laughable and clearly without any fact or knowledge of our academy players

I haven't got enough insight as not watched team but as none break into our mud table squad then suggest they move on and we improve our scouting .

When we move up to top academy we'll hopefully find talent coming through

At the end of the day He was a city player and if the club decided to pull the plug on any loan deals that football He wants to be a footballer so he has to accept it
If Man City were interested last Jan then the club has done him a favour Think if the signing on fee he could get a Man City. At his time a city he would have been paid well for his age so don’t think the club have treated him badly but just like 90% of players who are on the fringes of squads
I hope for the kids sake he goes on to better things if he is capable
