History, achievements, following, top flight seasons, trophy wins in living memory, global interest, self generated financial income....
Do I go on?

Cardiff has grown over the last 15 years into a big club .
It is a very attractive job for any manager other than the big big names. Why would you think Derby and Rangers can attract the likes of Gerrard and Lampard but we couldn't?
I agree with this and the OP clearly understates the stature of this club. He also underestimates the number of 'quality' managers currently out of work and itching for a shot at proving the doubters wrong
The more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to think City's decision makers have been a little smart in their thinking by appointing a manager who can work with the style of player we currently have
I'm going to give him a chance and I will get behind the team as vociferously as I always do in the hope that Neil 'Arris can get thusxseasin back on track

As for those saying we are a big club.... Wake up there are at least 35 clubs bigger than us just in England never mind on a world level.
I travel a lot in Germany and Belgium with work and nobody knows us.

I don't think the number of trophies won decides what makes a big club. I have never thought of Leicester, Blackburn or even Nottingham Forest as big clubs, even though they have all won some big competitions during my time of following the game. The big clubs are fairly obvious and I think most know who they would be. I think of us as a medium size club with some potential, but we would need a prolonged stay in the PL if we are ever to get close to realising that potential. I agree with the poster who said there are plenty of people living overseas who have never heard of us, but that is not surprising, I spend a few months most years in the States, and there are people there who have never even heard of Wales, and many of the ones who have heard of us think Wales is somewhere in England.
