When Bogle arrived, I though he looked a promising player even though he was a bit rough round the edges.I honestly thought he had more potential than Zohore, but it all went wrong somewhere. Obviously fell out of favour with Warnock, and we don't really know what goes on behind the scenes. Perhaps he will get another opportunity, and hopefully prove that I was not being over optimistic when I first saw him. Our style might suit him more than it did Zohore. We will find out soon enough.

Really not sure that Reid, Bogle and Ward are good enough strikers to sustain a play off challenge and nowhere good enough for top two.

I know we got promoted twice without a major contribution from a striker but it's a heck of a gamble tohope for that to happen again.

That's my worry with Bogle. I thought he was going to turn out to be a decent player, but it has not happened so far. It could be that he is not up to this standard of football, and at his age you would have thought he has probably found his level by now. Keeping my fingers crossed, but I think we need to strengthen up front.

I know people will say that we have Bobby Reid but you still need someone who is useful in the air. A bit of a Target man. I know Dwight Gayle is similar but he would definitely score 15-25 goals in the Championship. NW keeps saying that the club are trying hard to bring a striker in well its time for them to pay the going rate to bring one in so that we don’t end up like last summer & regret the consequences. Come on City.

You do realise Dwight Gayle is valued at £20mill don’t you? Do you honestly think we are going to be spending that sort of money on a striker?
Even IF we did offer £20mill and IF Newcastle accepted the bid and IF we did offer him the £55k a week he’s on, do you think he would want to come here? Newcastle have a new manager so he’s probably hoping to impress him and play premier league football next season.

Some people on here seriously need to wake up.

Exactly.
Some people on here say/think they understand but in reality they have no idea of how things work.

I know exactly how things work. Just because I like many other fans would like to see a decent proven goal scorer being signed up then all of a sudden the ‘we know best brigade’ seem to come out of the woodwork because it doesn’t fit in with their opinion as they know everything that’s best for the club. Everyone is entitled to have an opinion & they should be respected. I believe that the club need to bring in a decent striker others may not. We have parachute funds available & I for one would like us challenging for promotion again. To make our chances better a striker would be beneficial. The name Dwight Gayle as a proven scorer was used as an EXAMPLE.

I’m not sure you do know how things work because there’s no way the club will bust their wages policy of Gayle’s (or similar) salary of a reported 40-50 grand per week.

Where you sound like you’re wrong again is the point that I am against your opinion. I am actually with you on the signing of a ‘marquee’ type striker & a ‘top’ midfielder. I think this would boost the team with regards to confidence and a better chance of automatic promotion. It would also boost the crowds and increase season ticket sales.

Why I don’t think it will happen is because I know how the club works and how the club is run.

Of course, like all opinions, I may be wrong! ;)

I think some fans tend to get us confused with Barcelona from time to time. ;)

Yeah because signing dwight gayle is a fair comparison :banghead:

as for the OP, a quick google search says his valueation is 15m and on 40k a week, so we are already down from 20m and 55k :laughing6:

A quick google search says Newcastle want £20mill for him and he was on 55k a week at West Brom. But Even at your lower values (which might be more accurate) I can’t see us spending that sort of money. We didn’t in the prem so it’s highly unlikely we will in the championship.
The point that I am getting at anyway is that people on here seem to think that we have no ambition because we havnt signed a player like Gayle, even though they are probably out of our price range - going by our spending policy over the last few seasons anyway. You’ve also got people on here making out like bringing in a quality striker is a simple task and that the club are not making any effort to sign anyone. If it was that simple all our business would have been done on day 1 of the window.

I think everyone wants us to sign a striker and everybody will be extremely disappointed if we don’t. But if we don’t, I don’t think it will be because of lack of effort from the club. There is still almost 2 weeks left of the window, plenty of time to bring in a few more players yet. I think people should at least wait until then before questioning the club.

We must be using different versions of Google then because what I found said 15m and 40k
