Anyway as to this thread. Of course the majority of Cardiff fans will have been looking for Swansea fixtures as soon as they were released, the majority of Swansea fans were looking for the same. A minority of Cardiff fans see Bristol City as their main rivals and a minority of Swansea fans could not give two hoots about Cardiff, especially those who started supporting in the last 10 years.

There’s only one match regardless of league position that you’re guaranteed sellout this coming season and that’s when you play Swansea.

If they had a brain between them they'd know that cardiff and Swansea have played each other 6 times in the last 10 years.

Unfortunately, Swansea are our main rivals but it is a rivalry I would quite happily kill off.

Why would you want to kill off the rivalry ? Local rivalry is what makes football and sport in general more exciting.

As you have a whopping 10 posts and only joined the forum 5 weeks ago you seem to have an amazing insight on Roathie? I remember the original Roathie which was around 7 years ago so it is hard to understand how you know so much about his impact on this forum since then?

BTW Roathie has had so many different usernames that anyone accusing a new WUM of being him has more than a 50% chance of being right.

For some fans of a certain age Bristol City will always be a bigger game than Swansea.

I think as far as rivalry is concerned, it depends on how long you have been a City supporter. For me, Bristol have always been the biggest when it comes to rivalry. We rarely played Swansea apart from in the Welsh Cup, while Bristol and us were usually playing each other in the old Div 2. Swansea were playing the likes of Newport & Wrexham, and we usually beat all three comfortably back in the days when we virtually owned the Welsh Cup. I suppose for younger fans, Swansea is a bigger game because they have had a bit of success in recent times, but the rivalry you first experience in your younger days tends to stay with you forever.

I think one of the big reasons fans in my age group think of Bristol as being our biggest rival in addition to the points I mentioned above, is that both Swansea & Bristol are a very similar distance away from Cardiff (both just over 40 miles away I think). Obviously, where Bristol are concerned you have the additional rivalry of an English club versus a Welsh club. That is another reason why for me, Bristol have always been the club to beat. Nice to get one over Swansea as well, but not the same for me as I have friends in and around Swansea, as well as liking the Mumbles and Gower area.

That said the reason why I consider Bristol City as our biggest rivals is at the time I started following the Bluebirds Swansea were out of sight in the lower divisions and we played Bristol more often.So your theory does have some legs but of course you did stupidly forgot the PL derbies

PS (I would also put Bristol Rovers and Newport County before Jacksville as our biggest rivals so you have finished fourth in a two horse race)

I joined my local library last month too, and took out a whopping 3 books. The librarian was equally ridiculously amazed I had heard of books prior to joining... Have a bit of common sense lad. You have no idea how many usernames people have, you just guess and assume everyone is one and the same.

Personally, I would be surprised if we sold out for any of our matches this season. Not very often I can remember gates of over 30k in the second tier, and that is in over 50 years of following the club.

When we play Swansea its a welsh derby m4 derby what ever you want to call it but not a local derby will we sell it out probably more so if we are top of the league and going well but I’m looking more forward to the Leeds united game more than Swansea they have been one of our biggest rivals over the last ten years and always bring big support to Cardiff still a big club in my eyes
