Good chance for the hosts, but Bertrand's cross is deflected wide and City clear the corner. (0-0)

Gunnarson gives it away, chases redmond down gets it back and back heels it straight back to Southampton

It is very noticeable the lack of a out ball without wingers when we win it back. This set up only allows for long hopefull balls to Niasse.
Nowhere near as fluid as last weekend.

Redmond shot
That’s a fantastic tackle by Manga with Shane Long about to pull the trigger.
But Cardiff are being hammed in and there’s not enough support for Niasse and Reid. Redmond strikes into the side netting.
Chances at both ends
A bizarre decision to turn and pass behind him from Hojbjerg lets Cardiff off big time - he’d been found in some space in the box.
Arter then gets Cardiff ticking, but Bennett’s cross goes into McCarthy’s grateful hands.

The waves of Southampton pressure show no sign of relenting, Valery demanding a free kick after beating Bennett and going down.
But Cardiff can’t continue to hit long hopeful balls in the direction of Bobby Reid. It’s not going to work.

Reid makes a fabulous run in behind and wants a penalty after turning and going down. Cardiff are offering a lot more in these last five minutes - and it owes to getting Reid on the ball.
Warnock - and the away fans - will be encouraged by that.

Sorry I’m not a happy clapping snowflake and can see a bad lineup when I see it. Being dominated

After a decent spell for Cardiff, Saints are ramping up the pressure here.

Paterson hounds Vestergaard out of play on the Southampton left. Both Saints’ central defenders either side of Bednarek have come forward and offered something in attack, which has been a little troubling for Cardiff.
Jack Stephens keeps finding space too.

Seem to be missing some bite in the attack here, Niasse looks pretty tired maybe? The play in the midfield and defensively is really good, just need to create more chances and we're onto something. Southampton are looking reluctant to push so I guess they're playing for 1 here.

Most of Southampton’s attacks are coming down the Cardiff right, where Peltier and Paterson are struggling to deal with Ryan Bertrand and the movement of Redmond and Ward-Prowse into that channel.
Warnock will need to plug that gap sooner rather than later.

Warnock isn’t imaginative enough to bring on an stacking player unless we are a goal or two down

That’s a waste for Cardiff as Paterson knocks down Long from a dangerous looking set piece that was won by Niasse.
You feel there’s a big chance to come for somebody before half time....

We are on the back foot and happy to defend attack after attack rather than actually affect the game from an attacking sense. All because of our rearguard lineup. Not even trying to win for the fans

You think we will bring on attacking players whilst it is still 0-0?

I hope Warnock doesn't wait until we lose a goal before bringing on some pace / threat- has to use those options on the bench and be a bit more positive. These are the games to get away points, not top bloody 6 away!

He will not bring on attacking players at 0-0 unless forced.

Is Gunnarson playing ?
I'll never to pretend to understand our defensive set ups, they are complex. But, all i see from Gunnar is shadowing and pointing whilst Arter goes in to take the ball.
Ralls and Arter are our most influential players......But thats not hard

Goal is coming - soton come out again back to the wall already. Literally set up to hope we can defend attacks than have any ambition to attack ourselves. That tactic hasnt worked away from home all season

Bananas that only counts if it is 0-0 when they come on but that won’t happen so the observation about our bench is pointless and invalid
