May not get that many but hopefully can help others get more goals?

I think this interview shows Deeney is exactly the right type of character for us and would be another leader in the dressing room. I would love it if we sign him!

Great interview thanks for sharing that man. Really think he would thrive under Warnock based on that and I think he carries himself well. Understands his limitations and his strengths and comes across as determined and a natural winner, yet also fairly humble. Really hope this happens. :ayatollah:

No such thing for lower end teams. Strikers in top 6 teams dont always get to those numbers. City need someone to get 10 goals and I think he could do it. Importantly he's experienced and probably suited to style of play. Teach Ken one or two things on how to rough up defenders

What a waste of money for him, if we want a striker from Watford Andre Gray please he would keep us up

Troy Deeney: Watford striker on Cardiff City radar

By Rob Phillips

BBC Wales football correspondent

31/07/18

Cardiff City are set to target Watford captain Troy Deeney as they look to boost their attack ahead of the Premier League campaign.

Manager Neil Warnock wants to add a striker before the transfer window closes on August 9.

Deeney, 30, has the experience Warnock has been looking for to build on their Championship promotion.

The English striker joined Watford in 2010, scoring 105 goals in 309 League appearances for the Hornets.

Cardiff need to increase their depth up front with Danish under-21 international Kenneth Zohore currently fighting for the centre forward spot with Gary Madine and Danny Ward.

Warnock is also looking to secure the return of Liverpool's Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic on a season long loan.

How many goals did he get last season?

At 30 I think it's to much, add on a good wage and probably a 3 or 4 year deal. Could be like transfers of the past where we have him hanging around not playing.

I'd rather see Zohore given a chance and money spent on midfield with a striker onloan.

Personally I think if this were true stinks of desperation. Best years behind him, big wages and 5 goals in 29 games last year as in an established team, not great. I fear a signing like this could undo all the financial stability the club has worked so hard for. Good signing for 5 or 6m on reduced wages but last thing we need is another Acorn deal that nearly broke the club.

Descent signing for us if true, WTF is all this 15-20 goal striker all about as theres not many of them in the Premier and properly none outside the top six/seven clubs.
Much rather Troy to Andre and as for upsetting the dressing room IMO there a few there who will put him straight ( if the gossip about him being unsettling is true, which I don't think it is )

C'mon Troy, you know you want to :ayatollah:

Two leaders?

This photo is from a pre-season friendly between Cardiff and Watford in 2015. Could Deeney and Morrison become teammates?

Tbh not that excited by us reputably being in for Deeley, last time I saw him play he looked very overweight and not really interested, I think Leicesters Slimani would be a better option if we're willing to spend that amount, played second fiddle to Vardy and probably has something to prove unlike Troy, really think he could make the difference

Yeah I know what you mean.

I thing there are better options out there than a 30 year old for 15 million.

Saying that perhaps a fresh start in a team more suited to his physicality would help him and us.

While we need some premier league experience 15 million seems a lot.

imagine if he came to us, he would want more money but just imagine someone with his quality could help Cardiff stay in the Premier League, IF we get him we will need a Premier League midfielder and maybe that could be joe allen from stoke or a possible return for Danny Drinkwater

Do many bottom half teams have strikers who score 15-20 goals a season.. I don’t think so

Re: UPDATED “ Cardiff City offer £15m for striker “

Deeney could be the difference between us staying up or going down. Has scored goals wherever he’s gone and can do it on poor service, loves the long ball and more often than not draws the foul which none of our other players seem capable of doing with the exception of hoilett. Wages would be high but not if we stay up.

Cannot see City agreeing to his wage demands.

Hope this deal is just a baseless rumour.

Although would love it to happen he is currently on £50k a week with 3 years left. Would be a big ask to compete with that. Hopefully he just wants to play football.

It just doesn't feel like a transfer Warnock would get involved with because he will always look for a bargain deal I hope he proves me wrong

His main experience is getting the best from a Premier League team whose main aim every year is to avoid relegation. A perfect fit for us.
