Jamaican striker Hoilett hit a sharp volley from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing’s cross to put the Bluebirds ahead in the 12th minute.
After back-to-back goalless draws, Cardiff needed something to revive them and found it in Hoilett, whose pace troubled Ipswich from the off.
Bogle also impressed in his first start since his £1m move from Wigan and fired in Cardiff’s second goal 40 seconds after the restart.
Lee Tomlin’s deft flick created the space on the edge of the Ipswich box before Bogle drilled home a low drive for his first goal for the club.
Ward grabbed the third in injury-time before Bersant Celina scored what was merely a late consolation effort for Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich.
