A nice passing move by United is eventually disrupted but Paul Dummett races back and intercepts superbly to win back the ball.

No doubt who the stand-out man has been so far. The Geordie fans chant his name, ‘Mitro’s on fire, your defence is terrified’.

And Cardiff just haven’t deal with Mitrovic’s strength so far, with Perez providing the touches of class in behind.

Not much in the way of pressing from Cardiff City so far and Newcastle have the freedom of midfield.

It’s being controlled by Shelvey and Hayden in the middle, with Cardiff’s central trio sitting deep. Amos has to come and clear one out of his area for a Magpies’ throw.

Another inventive corner by United. Shelvey receives a return pass and Bamba heads the ball over as it heads towards the top corner.

Newcastle dangerous

That stunning save from Amos keeps Cardiff in it. They’ve just got no control here, Newcastle are so powerful.

Cardiff haven’t done a great deal wrong but Newcastle’s pace and fluidity is just too much to deal with at the moment. Ritchie was said to be going to be a huge miss for Newcastle but Atsu has had a stormer and is cutting Cardiff to ribbons. A couple of corners and throw ins gives Warnock’s men a chance to settle.
