SPEAK AS I FIND

I have just flown out and back from Cardiff to Alacante. I must say my experience was very good.

We used our bus-passes on the shuttle bus (every 20 minutes from city centre) so there was no cost, however if you have to pay its a £5 one way (35 minutes travel time). So instead of having to drive 50 miles there and back, incuring the £6 bridge toll plus fuel and airport parking I reckon I saved the best part of £90. The handling of the flight was quick and easy and on our return we were off the plane and out of the airport in 25 minutes, we landed at 2pm and was in the house by 3.30pm. The cost of the flights with Vueling were on a par with anything offered from Bristol.

So I pose the question why do you want to go over to Bristol?????

I don't want to go to other airports. However, Cardiff have been way too expensive for me over recent years, but more importantly, they don't fly to the destinations I am going to. I doubt if anyone would prefer to use another airport if Cardiff provided the service at a competitive cost all the time. We don't travel to Bristol to spite Cardiff. We fly from Bristol and other airports because more often than not they are far cheaper, or fly directly to our destination.

I think you're missing the point.
If Cardiff airport had the routes that Bristol has and the same price structure then everyone posting on here would probably prefer to fly from there.
I flew out on Vueling from Rhoose to Barcelona in April and like you had a good and quick experience but I end up using Bristol three or four times a year because Cardiff haven't got the destinations I want. Simple really.

My point is that yes they have to have the routes, but if there are the same destinations available as from the likes of Bristol then I believe that using Cardiff is a no brainer. :ayatollah:

Just looking for a flight to Glasgow in March up on Friday back Sunday.

Can go from Bristol for £58 return, got a choice of 4 different times nicely spread out throughout each day.

Had a look for Cardiff, not a chance, one direct flight with Flybe up there at half 8 in the night, back at 22.45 Sunday Night, no other option and £138 over double the price.

Not good is it?

Yeah, Easyjet, its a shame as I would prefer to go from Cardiff, its not even the money thing either to be honest, I wouldn't mind paying a bit more but the flight times don't work either.

Take them away and Bristol would be nothing!! I always use cdf when go on hols in Europe don't bother to look at Bristol ! Bristol is obviously better for going on short breaks or business trips but as I don't do them not a problem.

So long since I last used Cardiff I forgot it was still there.

Same Steve, haven't used the Airport since 2009 and the airline that we used that day no longer operate there either. I have flown from Bristol, Birmingham, Heathrow and even East Midlands once in the mean time as Cardiff just wasn't even an option like its not for me this time.

How can there only be one flight between Glasgow and Cardiff in a day and that's at 22.45, its absurd.

That's like saying take Messi and Suarez out of the Barcelona team and they would nothing

The fact is they have got them, Cardiff needs to seriously up its game if it want's to survive

If your main use is short haul Europe bound to use Bristol more as they have the airlines that go there! I have two hols in Europe a year and always use cdf for convenience , but in reality choice of destinations dictate where go from? I use Manchester to go carribean as so easy for me than London . But if I wanted to go to Prague say i will have to use Bristol! That's way it is.

Yes agree but demographically Bristol has massive advantage and that's why airlines went there in 1st place! And if you believe what's being said passenger numbers are going up here and if wag gets its way over air tax may well see shift in where airlines go?

Yes - close Cardiff Airport because you can buy City shirts in Bristol.... numpty !

Bristol us leading the way with Easy Jet and Ryan , at the moment, but gradually the Cardiff routes are expanding.
Hopefully it will continue and the most popular destinations will be added.
More varied days would help too...for long weekends etc.
