Now these are highly paid professional players that should not make jack shit.
Last night to many individual mistakes cost us dearly awful defending and giving the ball away.

Well it certainly appears that the boys worked hard to try and get the win after their exertions last Saturday, but if you ask any sports scientist whether a 10 day break from football, coupled with a warm weather training and bonding exercise is more advantageous to a team playing against another team, who ran their bollocks off in a pissing down gale only 3 days earlier, I think you know what the answer will be!

I accept your point about the individual errors, but none of us know for certain whether the difference between the break from football was a factor or not and I've no idea why you've mentioned about them being highly paid!

I think the main reason we were beaten is that Middlesbrough are a better side than us, and have better players in key positions. I don't think the outcome would have been any different if our players had spent 6 weeks sunning themselves in Barbados before the game, After the amount of matches now played, the table does not lie, and the fact of the matter is that unless we can improve and become more consistent, we are destined to remain a mid table side.

why do people keep saying this, we havent been mid table all season

I used the term because I count mid table as teams placed between say 10th and 15th. We are only 1 point above 10th, and that's why I feel we could do with a win this weekend, or we will almost certainly find ourselves down in 10th spot.

Mid table is 9th to 16th.

If you know your 8 times table its not difficult to divide 24 by 3 - top, middle and bottom.

what term would you use to describe a team in 8th place

1-8 = Top
9-16 = Middle
17-24 = Bottom

Weve been around 7th to 9th for most of the season so we could be described as either top or middle really.

At the start of the season I said we'd be marooned in mid table for much of the season without a chance of getting to the play offs, I am happy to say Slade has exceeded my expectations as we have been sitting within striking distance of sixth place for the entire season.

However I won't apologise for saying Slade isn't good enough to take us up because we are not going up this season. Slade has never made me believe he's a manager capable of promotion.

Exactly how I see it. Slade has done a lot better than I thought he would, and I think he has steadied the club during a tricky period of transition. Hard to be too critical of him, and as much as I would love him to prove me wrong, I don't believe he can take us to the next level.

Lets be honest it was a bit daft starting this thread knowing we were playing Middlesborough away next. One of the most difficult of the 46 fixtures we will play this season.

by this logic the team in 8th is top the table

i guess you can think of it a few different ways. Me personally i'd split the table up into more than three sections, with the middle being something like 10-15th

In football championship terms, its only the top six and bottom three that count at the end of the season. Everyone else falls into the 'middle'. No difference (other than as a yardstick for next season) if we are top, mid or bottom middle.

In terms of top, middle and bottom then yes the team in 8th are in the top third!?!!

By your logic the team in 2nd is mid table are they?

Explain your logic Paul.

Explain your logic Paul.

You can usually juggle figures around to suit a particular point of view. Paul has probably done something along the lines of selecting 10th to 15th the same as me, there are 9 teams above those places and 9 teams below.

A couple of positive games and everything is rosy ??? What about the drivel we have endured since his arrival.I am man enough to say well played Cardiff when necessary. I still do not believe Slade is the answer.Far from it, he is a lower league blocker.

Yes, thought he would take us down after the money he wasted.
Still a shame we didn't get a proper manager to take a good squad up (obviously before he ruined it).

He certainly deserves until the end of the season now

Doesn't suit the boo boys agenda to admit mistakes. SLADE WILL also be one defeat away from a crisis. If he was Name manager he'd get time.
