Sam Hammam and Vincent Tan
Cardiff City have settled their biggest and longest standing debt after finally agreeing a deal with main creditor Langston.

With a High Court judgement looming, the two parties finally settled on a compromise with the Bluebirds agreeing to pay off the outstanding debt today.

WalesOnline understands that payment, which needs to be settled within 30 days, is in the region of £5m.

The Bluebirds will also pay a figure believed to be under £2m if and when they earn promotion to the Premier League. There is no time limit on that agreement, we understand.

You may not have Annis but I'm sure Sam has denied on more than one occasion that he is Langston and insisted that he is just their "representative".

More smoke and mirrors.

He's been paid off now - he should just go away.

David, if u have read my books I always believed he represented them

Not a good day for Tan once again, the outstanding amount was £5.75mill, and now he had to pay £5mill with in 30 days, plus £2nill if City's ever promoted.
Even I never thought it would ever end up that much to have to pay

If Sam being Langston was such a big thing surely it causes more issues.

Otherwise why did we give a shit all along.

I may come across daft here but am i getting this right?
Sam is and always was langstone (as most expected), he loans money to CCFC + interest from langstone, nearly run this club into the ground and eventually gets all his money and then some back from VT or CCFC?

And some still won't hear a word against him... today, Tan has done what he wanted, finally get Sam to publicly admit he is Langston.

I have read your books thank you  and enjoyed them all.

We all knew he was their "representative".

And let's be honest, we all really really suspected that Langston and Sam were one and the same.

Sam on the other hand denied time and again that he was anything other than their "representative".

Tan will probably now order Slade to make sure we're not promoted so he doesn't have to pay Sam another £2 million for promotion  Actually he'll probably say just carry on as you are Russ, just make sure we don't get too close to the top 6!

Did Sam actually state he wasn't Langston...or did he simply always state he was their Representative'?

I always saw it as a play with words, so it came as no big shock to learn that Sam = Langston

Regardless of this (not so) new fact, it's time to put it all behind us and move on. Both sides will claim a moral victory, whilst the real losers have been the supporters of Cardiff City FC over a number of years

Personally, Sam staying on as Honorary Life President (or whatever the title is) is no big problem. Despite what happened towards the end of his tenure, he remains the catalyst for the club's rise in recent years and as a life-long supporter I am grateful for his early contributions in 'bonding' supporters and increasing the club's profile and status!

It is time to move on and (just maybe) we can take a little time out to credit Vincent Tan for (a) taking on a debt that turns out to be as he thought (of Sam's making), and (b) to acknowledge that he took said debt on himself and (like all other club 'historic debts' he inherited) finally paid them off!

I know I may be a jumping ahead a little here, but could this now be the catalyst for getting the final two issues (Michael Isaacs and the Loans to Equity) sorted in the not-too-distant future, enabling us to make a positive push for a return to the Premier League in the next year os so?

I would like to think so, but then again I am the eternal optimist when it come to Cardiff City FC! :ayatollah:

In realty there was no real winner or loser in this particular court case.

Sam wanted his money back - he got it.

Tan wanted to know who Langton was/is - now he knows.

It's cost Tan an extra £2 million in a bonus though to find out something that he could have found out by looking at this message board i.e Sam = Langston!
