Some of the comments are dreadful . The wristband idea was appalling . Perhaps the Star of David tattooed on them would have been a better idea ?

Some comments on this thread are pathetically over the top. However the red wristbands were not there to signal they were asylum seekers, these wristbands were not used in any way like the star of David was used by the nazis. They had these wristbands to let the authorities know they were entitled to a free meal. No one in the city knew a red wristband meant they were foreign, it's just moaning for the sake of it.

It's the idea of being stigmatised . A piece of paper or something else but a wristband was not a good idea at all .

The problem is in this country is anyone under the age of 70 bar nobody has to face the idea of war or conflict . What would you do if your country was facing a civil war or an invading army .

Some politicians in the EU want us to take 90,000 migrants a year, pay benefits to EU and non EU dossers so they can send it back home to their families. We are also expected to provide homes, education, healthcare and probably wipe their @rses for them too.

I'm not going to get into silly arguments like some on here.

But I have been in a war zone and not teaching either. My wife has also lived and worked in a war zone i.e. the Northern Highlands of Ethiopia when it was in civil war, plus we have both lived and worked in a muslim country so I can assure you I have more than enough knowledge and experience to form my opinion.

As for the difference between a migrant and a refugee well yes there is a difference but as many of these "individuals" destroy their identification papers and passports who is to say what they are. The bottom line with me and many other people I know, is that the UK is a soft touch for handouts and I haven't worked for 44 years to provide the handouts. As for humanity I support charities and have done for years including helping to raise over £300,000 in a four year period for Ty Hafan and when I see the struggle they and other of OUR children's hospices and charities have then as far as I am concerned my humanity doesn't include some of the rubbish that are desperate get on the UK gravy train.
