43 years I've been going and for me it's Newport County and Bristol City.

Of course I look forward to the Bristol Rovers and Jacks games, but I also look forward to Millwall,Pompey and Chelsea games :ayatollah:

Hello Roathy and fellow jacks infested on here. It is up to the individual to judge who is considered the main rival. It makes perfect sence to see both equally or regard one higher than the other based on geography or personal reasons. I for one for years saw Bristol city as a main rival purely based on there being a genuine rivalry in the 2nd division in be early 00's. Swansea did not even enter my head and that's a fact. Swansea then took over for a bit when we were in the same division. This season, I wonder if that will change again. Perhaps, who knows. The truth is Swansea only really have us and they don't like it when we don't always feel the same. It's like a jealous ex girlfriend throwing her toys out the pram because we don't feel the same

But If we were all in the same league, then I'd have to say the jacks would shade it as our main rivals from a personal point of veiw

As others have said, our match against Bristol wont come near a sell out, if we played the jacks then people would be clamouring for tickets. We sing anti jack songs at games far more than anything anti wurzel and also sang songs about them in our promotion parade to the Prem, i dont recall anything Bristol related. if anyone thinks Bristol are our main rivals then they are either in a wind up or in the very tiny minority. Thats how I see it.

Why because you can't argue that people have a different opinion to yourself? What is there not to get?

Jaxx aren't the main rivals this season for sure. There's no chance of playing them apart from a future cup draw.

Rivals change according to circumstances and until the two clubs are in the same division, we should concentrate on the sides we play every week. For jaxx that's Liverpool, Spurs, Sunderland et al. For Cardiff, it's Brighton, Boro, Ipswich etc.

This is yet another distraction designed to undermine the real job, which is to win the best possible table position. Even when promotion is achieved, maybe it's time to ignore local rivalries until the two clash.

Just my opinion obviously.

Has anyone thought to ask what Bristol City supports think ,they're probably indifferent to Cardiff and it goes without saying they consider Rovers to be their main rival regardless of what Division they're in .

I have worked with several Bristol City fans and yes they dislike Rovers a lot, however they hate Cardiff with a vengeance, due to the fact we are Welsh and they all hate the Welsh passionately, and due to the fact that Cardiff use to cause so much trouble in Bristol each time we played over there. :bluebird:

We don't claim to be anything we're not. They say there are a million supporters in your catchment area but the boundaries are changing, 20 development centres, 1 in Bristol and 3 in Cardiff will change the dynamics of the supporting public of South wales.
86 sell outs on the spin, no doubt we need a bigger stadium, 40,000 should just about do it ;)

Growing up we always tended to look east to Bristol in the 80's, we wanted to be better than them etc, the jacks were nowhere and had no fans, and were no bother. I used to see battles with Newport going on every other week in town with 100's involved sometimes. Even though we weren't playing them they were our rivals for sure. You jacks were seen as a bit of an embarrassment if the truth be known, not showing for Wakes away games and dressing like tramps wasn't cool at all back then.
Yeah you have zipped past us in the league and you have your premier league, enjoy it, I guess your rivals are villa for now as you are light years ahead of us. I mean you even have a development centre in front of my house in Heath park, fans all over the world and a 40,000 stadium on the way. Yep, way out of our league, I'll stick on the wurzels thanks.... 8-)

No they don't, just like the handful on here claiming its Bristol, aren't representative for the whole of your fanbase.

It's more than a handful. Just accept it Roathy. Not everyone feels the same about Swansea.
