Sounds promising! I'd rather take a risk on a foreign striker with potential like this than spending huge money on other championship strikers, like Burnley have done recently. Just hope we keep hole of Kenwyne and we will be in good shape.

Don't know an awful lot about him other than those stats, so can't comment on whether it will be a good or bad signing. But I'll wish him luck, support him and give him a chance as I do with every Cardiff City player.
Getting bored of all the Annis and Carl haters.

Obviously completely unknown and a gamble, but we do need a forward with pace, so fingers crossed, but Kenwyne and Mason are doing ok for now and we have Ameobi and Doyle desperate to have a run, so let's see what happens ????

This is a piece I found of him, from an article about top French talents in second tier.
Idriss Saadi – Clermont Foot
Currently the league’s top scorer, netting eleven goals and 45% of his team’s goals so far this season, Idriss Saadi has had a remarkable impact at Clermont since his move from Saint-Étienne, a club where he spent the best part of eight years as a youth player. Valence-born Saadi, who has high hopes of breaking into the Algerian international set-up, played twenty-four times at first-team level for Les Stéphanois and also had reasonably successful loan spells at Gazélec Ajaccio and Stade de Reims, but decided to leave Christophe Galtier’s side for Clermont, with the promise of regular starts acting as a lure.
Saadi has an impressive physical presence which, combined with his pace, has given rise to his nickname as ‘Le Taureau’ (the bull). The centre-forward always impresses with his natural goalscoring insticts, as he almost always appears to find himself in the right place at the right time to score for his side, utilizing his ability to finish well with both feet. He uses his pace well to get himself into one-on-one situations and proves his worth with his composure to almost always finish well. He has also impressed this season with his initiative as a striker, with season highlights so far including his audacious lob from the edge of the box against Nimes on Matchday 13 and most obviously his breathtaking overhead kick to win the three points against Le Havre at home on Matchday 6.
The centre-forward’s strength, pace and diverse finishing abilities have made him stand out this season, in a Clermont side that would really be in difficulty without his goals. However, Saadi is not yet the finished product. For a striker of six foot, he sometimes fails to provide what would be an obvious aerial threat for his side, in terms of both link-up play and his inability so far to score headers. Having said this, Saadi is a remarkable talent for a player of just 22 years of age and his progress in his first year as a starting lone centre-forward has been extremely pleasing. He is definitely a player worth tracking throughout the rest of the season.

Bluebirds snap up powerful French striker
Cardiff City Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Idriss Saadi, subject to international clearance.
The twenty-three year old centre-forward links up with the Bluebirds from French club Clermont Foot on a three year deal that runs until the summer of 2018.
A former France U19 international, Idriss becomes Russell Slade’s fourth signing of the summer – joining Semi Ajayi, Sammy Ameobi and Gabriel Tamaş at Cardiff City Stadium.
Idriss began his professional career with St. Etienne, before switching to Clermont in the summer of 2014 and scoring eighteen goals in thirty-nine appearances last season.

I really don't want to sound negative but this is a very difficult league we play in, I hope in wrong but he may struggle. Also he has competition with the likes of Jones, mason and ameobi to name a few. I really hope I am wrong but don't want another load of wages just playing in our reserves.
Mon Aug 31, 2015 7:35 pm
He looks about 40, not 23.
Mon Aug 31, 2015 7:37 pm
I actually really like the look of him. Like someone said in a previous post, he can score all kinds of goals. He does have great pace, energy, and it also seems like he likes the physical side of the game. We need another battler up front, who can create space with his pace and who likes to put the ball in the back of the net. Personally, I would love to see this guy partner Jones up front, with Kenwyne holding the ball up for him and flicking headers on for him to run on too. I have a really good feeling about this guy, I think he has the attributes to do very well in the Championship. He has pace to burn, he is physical, he can score many different types of goals and he seems to be able to create goals for himself. Ross McCormack was just like this, Ross could take on 2-3 players and then chip the keeper from 25 yards out. Michael Chopra couldn't do this however, but he was a fox in the box. McCormack was at times a fox in the box as well. I can see this guy being a fox in the box and I can also see him create his own goals, just like Ross did for us and what he continues to do in the Championship now, for Fulham.
I have a very good feeling about this guy, as well as him having attributes that could turn him into a prolific Championship striker. He also looks like he has a good touch, great passing range short or long, good dribbling and a few other good attributes. I think that he is a good gamble.
Welcome to City mate.

I can also say that you told me,Mason and Steve (Tenerife) at the Wimbledon game that Lindegaard would join if Marshall left. Just to prove you're not making that up.

New Cardiff City signing Idriss Saadi
Russell Slade has landed the striker he’s been chasing after Cardiff City made a shock swoop for unknown French league frontman Idriss Saadi.
Slade beat the transfer deadline to seal a deal with Ligue 2 outfit Clermont for the 23-year-old former France youth international.

Just been speaking to a French friend who used to live here but moved back to France about 5 years ago he's a clermont fan and has said he's quality with the right service and has the pace to get away from most defenders, seems like a good pick by Russell Slade but only time will tell....
Welcome to South Wales Saadi!!
