Come on. Get real. Fortunate to get to extra time more like.

The result is what it is but don't pretend that it wasn't important. If you want to get the fans back, cup runs can do just that.

Guess it'll have to be the FA Cup then. :bluescarf:

Did you watch the game? We created far more than them, it could have been 3-0 first half. If anything they are lucky we couldn't finish or Kenwyn wasn't playing because the amount of balls we put in for a piss poor header to be on the end was frustrating. We fell to bits when they scored but I think we were by far the better team untill then.

If our strikers scored every chance they get, they wouldn't be playing in the Championship.

I guess you were one of the fans who expected us to score every time we went forward?

No I just think we should have been more clinical, but we done well considering the injuries. we certainly wernt lucky to make it to extra time after controlling 70% of the game and creating more chances. It's just an honest criticism. so shove your 'one of those fans' high horse comment up your arse :)

Did you see the last 20 minutes? They were all over us and Macheda cleared off the line.

Well you clearly were one of those fans

Yes that's why I said 70%...

So we weren't lucky to get to extra time and we weren't unlucky to lose? If we controlled 70% of the game then surely we were unlucky to lose? At the same time, as MK Dons finished strongly, we were lucky to not go 2-1 behind in normal time.

I stand by what I said. We were very unlucky in that we created good chances for our strikers, who couldn't score the opportunities. Also we came very close at the end through Connolly and Moore. Forgot to mention, Ameobi should have scored too.

Having said that, we were fortunate to get to extra time for the reasons I've said.

So overall, as I put in the title, we were unlucky to lose this match. If Moore hadn't made the mistake for their first goal, we'd be looking forward to playing Southampton right now.

Luck seems to be the in word for every game we have failed to win so far this season. You make your own luck, and we can't continually say that every game we draw should have been a win, and every game we lose should have been a draw. As plenty of people on this forum have said in the past, possession percentage is irrelevant, it's what you do with the ball that counts. We lost and that's it, end of story. We will lose plenty more during the course of the season, and we can't keep on blaming things on luck. We have to score more than we concede, and it's not bad luck that we don't have the quality of striker needed to score on a regular basis, particularly when Jones is either out of form, injured or rested.

Sort of agree with you.

But I would say every team in the world needs a little bit of luck, whether that be a defenders mistake or strikers judging the flight of the ball perfectly.

Moore's header was inches away from equalising. Their goalkeeper did well in the first half, and if he'd have let just one of them in then we would have won. In the same way we would have won, if Moore hadn't made another mistake.

The reality is, if I'm honest, there's only one striker at the club that I have faith in to score goals and that's Kenwyne Jones. As you say though, we need an alternative for the weeks he will be injured or rested. Is Mason good enough to score plenty of goals? I'm not sure.

OK, here goes :

Yes, I did watch the match and yes, MK Dons were out of touch for sections of the game. If you say 70%, I wouldn't disagree with that. There were plenty cofC chances in the first half, agreed.

BUT

The only stat that matters at the end of the day is the score and at the end of normal time, they were all over it like a rash. They were unlucky not to score and that is why I disagree a about who was unlucky.

If the ref had had a mare or he'd sent someone off, the. You could argue about luck, but to win, you have to put the ball in the onion bag. Not nearly, not hit the bar, not if, but, whatever, etc.

Out of the cup and no excuses. Beaten on the day. End of chat.

I've stated several times on this thread why I believe we were unlucky, if people disagree then that's fair enough.

Life would be boring, particularly on here, if we all agreed on everything.

On a plus point the steak & ale pies were OK. But then, if I'm being picky, the crust was a bit thick and they could have been a bit more generous on the filling.
