The march, as long as it's peaceful, is entirely legitimate.

Like others, I hate ISIS and other Islamic extremist groups (Or extremist groups of any nature, religious or otherwise) and also be disgusted at the completely disproportionate way in which Israel behaves under Netanyahu's far right government. These things aren't mutually exclusive.

I have no problem whatsoever with the Jewish people having a homeland. Throughout history the Jews have been persecuted and generally treated appallingly. The complication is that a Jewish homeland cannot be built on the misery of others.

Israel are already sailing very close to the wind in terms of getting an international football ban as a result of their treatment of Palestinian footballers and as we saw with the sporting isolation of South Africa, such sanctions can bring positive outcomes. Ideally sport and politics shouldn't mix but the reality is that sport, and football in particular, is big business and very high profile and bans, sanctions, protests can seriously embarrass politicians and lead to change.

I've no doubt that there were a tiny number of Al Qaeda/Sunni extremists in Iraq during Saddam Hussein's reign but Blair/Bush's illegal war of 2003 created the absolutely perfect breeding ground and power vacuum for the ISIS nutters to flourish.

As for getting more actively involved militarily in Syria? Forget it. Even if we were to crush ISIS in the short term western involvement will just see the Islamic extremists morph into something even more horrific. The solution to ISIS will, in reality, have to come from neighbouring Middle East countries.
