We had more fans attending games when we played in red. Just goes to show people were using the rebrand as an excuse not to go to games because really they don't want to go anyway. Watching us play in that massive stadium to a pitiful crowd is just embarrassing. We all heard people say they would rather be blue in league two, well I shudder to think what are crowds would be like down there.

Dave, I agree and disagree with your post. I agree with what you say about fans saying I'd rather be blue in league two and they still don't come now we are in blue in the championship. I was one of those fans that used to say that but I never stopped going to games whilst the rebrand was here but was very vocal in trying to get our blue back, if the question was asked would I prefer red in the Premier League or Blue in League Two then I would choose the latter. I'm still a season ticket holder but I would not have renewed if we stayed red and would have just picked games to go to. I disagree with your post because you say the attendances have dropped because people made the excuse about the return to blue but still never came back, now that is true but I will say that if we stayed red then we would have far less attendance than we do now. So that's why I agree and disagree with your post.

Steve I think we are in complete agreement then, I would rather be blue in league two myself. I am calling out the people who said that, boycotted us in red and are still boycotting/not bothering to come down now. I honestly thought our crowds would increase this season after the rebrand was reverse, can't believe they've actually dropped.

My gut feeling is that this is our true hardcore support now. The rest came because we got to the premiere weather we was in red blue green or orange. But I agree with Steve had we stayed red our attendances I do honestly reckon would of dropped below 7K. Feel those that go now are proper City fans. But if we start pushing for promotion the fans will return and if we get there ( can't see it with Slade but hey ho) then those glory fans will come crawling back whatever colour we are.

Was it all worth it though? I'm 100% happier now that we're back in blue personally

I dont think low attendances this year was ever in doubt was it? It is the first year we havent been promised a load of money to spend or promised empty success.

I think people have been a bit spoilt in recent times and assumed we have always got decent crowds (higher than our average this year). Thats not the case. In recent history (30-40 years) we have only had decent crowds for about 9 of those seasons, which coincided with shyster owners promising the fanbase the world.

For the majority this history we have scrabbled around with attendances most often ranging between 3,000 - 9,000. In fact, in our last stint at THIS level prior to the 2004 promotion to the Championship - our average attendance was 4,300.

After the rollercoaster years with badwagon jumers and glory hunters - we are probably about where we should be. I dont think there are any "boycotting" fans, not any signifficant number anyway. Just fans that have hopped off the bandwagon now success is no longer on the horizon.

I know a fair few who prior to the rebrand attended most games and / or were season ticket holders. The rebrand resulted in them staying away and they've not come back. It's like any routine, once you break it it can be hard to start it up again.

Yes, as I said. Over the last 30-40 years we have only had these attendances for 9 of them. And our last season at this level prior to the promises of the Hamam era we had 4,300. Most of our time in this period prior to the Hamam era we had attendances ranging from 3,000 - 9,000. So in terms of our attendance now, it is normal and nothing to worry about. Our attendances of recent times are bandwagon jumpers due to empty promises, those promises are no longer there so we are left with the more hardcore of our fanbase. Not sure what the Jacks have got to do with this debate however, they are at an impass and sell out every season currently. They have no place in a debate about our attendances and the reasons for it, people are becoming too obsessed with them.
