If, as some have posted, Malky, Whelan and Wigan are ALL racist, which is plainly NOT the case, fair enough, the club should boycott the game by not playing. The fans should stay away and the players should refuse to play. Ridiculous.

The actions of a minority do not label a whole club in my opinion.

We have a new poster who is a Latic. Seems a really descent bloke. Not a racist or homophobe or any other form of bigot. Should we boycott him too?? Of course not!!

It is understandable for Tan to absent himself but to order the rest of the board to stay clear is pathetic. It does nothing to further the relationships with fans and just gives people the impression that the club is run as a dictatorship (strange that!!!).

just saying. :bluescarf:

I think the fans should have boycotted this game aswell.
Support our board and say no to racism :ayatollah:

Though they are not absenting themselves from the whole game... they are just not going into the Directors Box...

We should all be standing up to rasicm, sexism and homophobia in the sport and showing it the red card.

screw makly. screw him financially screwing us, screw him giving us a bad name with his discrimination and just screw him in general. Whelan as well. they are both suited to each other.

hope we stuff them and send them on their way down to the dungeon.

Well said and the fans who go should hold up red cards to put the pressure on mm

Make no mistake - this latest farce has nothing to do with a stand against racism. Its a personal vendetta that results in off-field antics that affect the club and fans.

If VT wanted to make a credible statement about racism and antisemitism, then perhaps he should have looked a little nearer to home. Maybe starting with his close friend Mahathir Mohamad, the former Malaysian Prime Minister who awarded Tan the country's lottery rights in 1985 without holding an open tender (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25461616). The lottery revenue formed the core funding for Tan to invest in his other businesses. Nice 'seed funding' if you can get it.

So a bit more on his pal Mahathir Mohamed. "On 16 October 2003, shortly before he stepped down as prime minister, Mahathir said during a summit for the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) in Putrajaya, that:

We [Muslims] are actually very strong, 1.3 billion people cannot be simply wiped out. The Europeans killed 6 million Jews out of 12 million [during the Holocaust]. But today the Jews rule the world by proxy. They get others to fight and die for them. They invented socialism, communism, human rights and democracy so that persecuting them would appear to be wrong so they may enjoy equal rights with others. With these they have now gained control of the most powerful countries. And they, this tiny community, have become a world power.

And from Malaysia Today we have heart-warming quotes from Mr Mohamed like "“Even after their massacre by the Nazis of Germany, they survived to continue to be a source of even greater problems for the world. The Holocaust failed as a final solution.” Here's the link: http://www.malaysia-today.net/dr-m-says ... lim-world/

And you will have no-doubt observed from the link the former Prime Minister is a 911 conspiracy theorist. There's plenty more on him with just a couple of searches.

So for VT to use this opportunity to get cheap publicity over Whelan whilst his close associate has gone on record as to being a racist and worse is incredible but sadly not surprising. And if these are the views of his intimate network, it's got me wondering what VT's views are on his friends Mohamed's comments on Jews and The West? If he was angry about Whelan and Malkay then he'll no doubt be furious about Mahathir Mohamad's comments.

And there's more........

I suppose it was lucky that 'Dr M' Mahathir Mohamad was VT's guest for the Fulham game as opposed to Spurs. You'd think that VT would be furious about his friends racist comments given his recent statement about Whelan/Mackay & certainly wouldn't be parading him around the CCS, right? That would be double standards, surely?

Some real food for thought in the above post!

To beclear, my stance is totally in support of giving racism the red card. I just don't think Wigan is a racist club just because 2 high profile reps are involved in using racist language.

Wigan has will go into the game with the home advantage as it is. Why make it more on their favour with this side-show??

The most important thing is 3 points tonight. Anyone who thinks this will bring the other issues into sharp focus for the rest of the world is simply dreaming. At the end of the season, the successful boycott of a run-of-the-mill fixture will be long forgotten. The league position will be on record forever.

At least one poster havs by implication criticised Bluebirds fans for travelling to the game. Shame on you! They are supporting the club and should be commended for their efforts.

To be honest, the board should be there in strength as far as I'm concerned to show that CCFC hasnoninv to be ashamed of.

I would agree with you that Wigan isn't inherently racist just because two members are racist.

My mum reads the daily mail and complains about foreigners... but that doesn't mean I am going to do the same just because I am family.

Unfortunately though, it IS the case that discrimination (namely sexism, racism and homophobia, as well as anti-semitism) is rife within football and football supporters to a greater degree than in everyday life. it;s a shame. I wish it wasn't so.

The moment you speak out against it, most of the time, you are bombarded with a lot of people saying "it's only banter" or "it's just a joke"... which I take as meaning you can joke about anything and as long as it's "just a joke" it's fine (though I'm sure the McCann parents just LOVE hearing Maddy jokes)

It's a shame that it is this way. I was hoping that it would change more over the years but it hasn't unfortunately... if anything I seem to be hearing more of it down the stadium.

The bottom line is that a match vital to our survival is being overshadowed by one man's never ending vendetta. Mr. Tan's opinion of his position in life is that his subordinates must display subservience at all times, cross him and his wrath knows no bounds.

What MM should have learnt from taking on Mr. Tan is that when you employ run of the mill Lawyers they far too easily roll over and die when they come up against the very best money can buy!

The FA say Dave Whelan is not a racist, but apparently this carries no weight, because Mr. Tan has decreed he is!
