£25m banked a year, £250m in 10 years.... Why do we need an investor?

No I am listening. £250m is nothing in terms of the top of the PL. Man City have spent half that in a transfer window. In 10 years they'll be spending more. Its called inflation which im sure you're more than aware of being a businessman.

£250m is nothing? :D

That buys the following midfield and attack - with £170 odd million left to buy some defenders

Raheem Sterling (£20m)
Yaya Toure (£24m)
David Silva (30m)
Shelvey - already have him
Michu - already have him

Bony - already have him

If you find building and improving the side to be the best it can be while testing itself against the best boring.... Then I cannot imagine what getting promotion from the second tier and then relegation the year after ad infinitum does.

The roller coaster is the fun. Experiencing the lows is what makes the highs better IMO. :bluescarf:

a ride on a second tier roller coaster compared to a ride on the biggest coaster in the world.

So its all about success with you? Fair enough, that's your own choice. If that was my choice Id go support Man City.

Absolutely, but its about the success of MY side, not another team.

Translated as 'Im pretty thick and cant present an argument. Instead I'd rather force my viewpoint on others'.

Fair enough but you must appreciate I don't see it that way. I grew up in a Liverpool household and supported them as a youngster - if it was all about success I would never support Cardiff City but I do proudly and passionately because they're my home town club - it was part of belonging and going to games with like minded people and enjoying it - it was more than jsut success. Even when we lost in the rain at Ninian Park it was not the end of the world. We picked ourselves up for the next game and the next day out with friends and family.

I see football like I see my life. As long as we're in a position to just get by and have some fun then I'm happy. I don't need tonnes of money or need to be competing at the very top. I'm very happy to get a standard job and dedicate my time to what matters. I know you as a successful businessman who has strived to get to the top may see that strange but im a socialist and money/success aint everything to me. There's more to life and football than that and as long as you got enough to get by in both and keep it all going, thats all that matters to me Roathie.

Lets just agree to disagree as I dont think we'll ever see eye to eye on this. Each to their own. :thumbright: :bluescarf:

Success is simply achieving an objective... If it isnt about success then you dont care if you win or not?

Yet you want to go down in order to win silverware and dont like the Prem because you don't feel you can win it.

Makes very little sense.

I've come to terms with the fact we're not a big club and until there are major changes to the system we never will be. I believe our only chances of success under the current implementation is in the cups or lower tier leagues and thus im more than happy to yoyo and try to compete for the championship and if we do go up take the money. I don't see anything wrong with coming to terms with that. Its just being a realist rather than overly optimistic.

Of course I want to win but its not the be all and end all.

See thats what im not getting.

You are saying its not all about winning yet dont like the Prem because you dont feel like you can win so want to drop down a league in order to do so.

Success and building in order to compete at the top table is all about slow growth and sustainability. This is what ive been preaching for the last 3 years.

You all want to be a big club but dont want to put the groundwork in. If you cant win anything instantly then "meh, may as well go down then". Its ridiculous.

In 10 years we went from bottom club, 92nd in football league to 9th and most profitable club in Britain.

If we took the mentality of "we will never win this" then we would be non league by now.

I'm sure you'll feel like that about any division when you're getting beat every week.

Ultimately though you know that as a club you needed to stay in the Premier League, Vincent Tan isn't going to convert debt to equity when you're playing in the Championship and you're financial situation next season will be worse than it was when you came up due to the money/wages you spent. You're stadium expansion isn't going to come to any use any time soon, and any potential Tan replacements aren't going to want to buy you with your current debt in the Championship, neither is Tan going to want to sell you as a Championship club. You're going in to a difficult division with a lot of high earners, and it's not going to be easy next season, I don't think you'll be as fortunate with the amount of strong finishes you had with Mackay and Jones.

Listen I would love to be still in the Prem but a lot of my mates are Jacks and 20yr season ticket holders and they reckon the prem is shit atmosphere etc 2 have given up their seasons but probably one offs just an opinion

I'll be honest I'm looking forward to the Championship for next season because let's face it were down. Hopefully back to seeing Cardiff winning games regular and also the banter and thrill of the Championship is better for small teams like Cardiff in my view! :bluescarf:

Its all about the thrill of the chase, the promised land, but when you get there it's all a bit meh

One thing I won't miss next season is the standard of refereeing in the EPL which has been piss poor all season (and not just against us)
