of course it does. However the lad doesnt speak english. Are you suggesting he is so good because he is organised? Surely this is a bonus (if applicable at all) and not a primary attribute.

If watching theĀ televisionĀ is the best way to judge players or teams why do international managers go around the club's assessing players for future squads.

it isnt the best way - it makes no difference. Why do scouts and managers watch video's of their next opponents and players? On TV you have tens and tens of cameras covering every angle you could possibly wish for, replays, slow motion and zoom... Plus in depth analysis pre game, half time and full time.

How come when people go to a game they often have to rewatch the game or highlights to see "if it really was a pen" yet the person who watches on TV is never left questioning what they saw.

If I were offered to watch a match at the stadium or on TV then I would choose the stadium as its more fun - but to say you see things that TV cameras and technology doesnt, rendering them incorrect is amazing.

Why do managers go to watch other teams they are going to play in the near future. What's the point in sending scouts to look at players/teams. There as got to be a reason but because you can highlight in red I'm sure you'll have the answer

they watch videos and television far more than live games with scouting, that I can absolutely guarantee you. You see them at games, you dont see them in their homes or at the club complex.

just look back over this conversation. The only thing you have told me regarding Medel which you claim I dont know about by watching on TV is his "organisation skills" (which im led to believe is non existent due to him not speaking the language). That says it all doesnt it?

The fact he speaks little English probably explains a lot in view of his organisational skills. We are not going to agree on what is the best way to judge a player. When tottenham tore us apart earlier in the season it was a real lesson In off the ball running and switching flanks for me that's when I knew we were really going to struggle. All this wasn't picked up on highlights. I'm not saying that medel does this either he doesn't. Just trying to point out that magic camera doesn't pick up everything. all I will say is going back to the original debate is that although he hasnt ripped up any trees to suggest he is one of our less industrious players is wide of the mark.

Off the ball running isnt picked up in highlights maybe but very clear if you watched the full game on TV helped by a multitude of wide angle lenses. The heat chart is perfect for this though if anyone missed the match as it shows exactly what ground is covered as does a pedometer, to say they are less accurate than someone's guessing naked eye is crazy.

I am happy for someone to suggest that the camera doesnt pick up key elements of a players game, however I have not yet come across a case in which this has happened, and its the same here with you now saying that maybe it doesnt relate to Medel after all.

What do you mean by industrious? Covering ground? I would be shocked to my core if he didnt cover the least amount of ground in your midfield. Truly shocked.

I thought you seen 80% of our games. I am sure whitts played in a lot of those. I know who I'd describe as industrious.

Medel has started 26 of your 28 Premier League games and I maintain that if any regular starting midfielder covers less ground than him I would be flabbergasted.

Many people are protecting his cult hero status and price tag, when in reality he has performed below average. 19th best DMC out of 20 this year according to an average of all DMC average ratings for every game played this year which takes into account a whole host of defensive, passing, tackline, ball retention and industrious stats.

Last post for me. You can cover ground but you maybe running up blind alleys chasing shadows or running like a headless chicken. How is this indicated on a thermal or pedometer other than in a positive way. Someone could run less or cover less ground than someone else but have a far more effective game as is the case with gunnarsson and medel. Medel being the more effective and the most combative.

You said industrious and hard working. The heat map and pedometer show exactly this.

The outcome of the insudtrious is another matter all together. But like most debates about the "hidden" talents of Medel, they change almost constantly.

The outcome of the ground covered is then available in the stats int the defensive part ofnthe analysis.
