Jesus I retract my statement you must be a Cardiff fan if you think the squads worth that much and buyers could actually be found. Relegated clubs don't exactly have the strong hand in negotiation with FFP, wages and players actively wanting to leave. Julio Cesar took how long to get a move? and it was a loan, same for Taarabt, Remy and Park

Even if that was the case you just labeled far less than Tans investment by a long, long shot if he asset striped. Which despite you wanting proof from everyone else you have no proof he would do. At least I had the decency to state my opinion is worth no more than yours. No one actually knows what Tan will do.

Also many Jacks have come here openly as Jacks and are fine. To come here and be a liar, then justify being a liar is some twisted logic on your behalf. Enjoy the thread, I'm sure someone else will reply to you but you seldom add anything after an initial opinion. So I'm not going to bother, chow :thumbright:

Value these then....

Caulker
Medel
Mutch
Marshall
Kim
Noone
Daeli
Turner
John
Whittingham
Campbell
Cala

Thats 12 saleable assets there. If caulker goes for £7m, if Medel goes for £7m and Mutch goes for £6m that means the other 9 players will need to be sold for an average of circa £2m a piece. And with the likes of Kim, Marshall and Noone im sure you will now see how £40m is not only achievable but minumum price

I'm not convinced that these players would realise £40m if sold. This club may have been prepared to fork out some big money (for us) on players like Medel and Caulker, but that doesn't mean that other clubs would do the same. This list is not exactly full of household names, and include players who are championship rather than premiership quality.

You don't need household names, just decent players.

Again, go through the list and tell me where im wrong. It seems unfathomable that you could not amass £40m from those 12 players.

I honestly believe that if we had true premiership quality players in our team, we would have more than 5 league victories to our name with 6 months of the season already over. Personally, and this is my view only, I think Medel is overpriced, even at £7m, Whittingham has always struggled in the top level, both with us and Aston Villa, Turner probably wouldn't be at the top of many shopping lists, and Caulker's value probably hasn't increased since Spurs let him go. Other players on the list are untested to a certain extent in top flight football, while I would imagine that Marshall's value is higher now than he came to us.

ill give it a go......

Roath_Magic_ wrote:Value these then....

Caulker - £7m
Medel - £8m (as i think someone back in spain may well pay that) or rather hope i guess
Mutch - 6m i would be upset and angry if he went for anything less.
Marshall - 8m best keeper in prem not already at top 4 imo.
Kim - 4m can see him going to somewhere like Germany
Noone -4m but i would rather not sell.
Turner - 2.5m only if he were to sell in the summer though.
John - 5m maybe optimistic, but young and i think he will develop into a top left back.
Campbell 3m cant see him being sold though

i took out Cala, Whitts and Daelhi, you might also move maynard on at a cost of 1.5m/2m also KTC perhaps for roughly the same, there is certainly money to be made if we go down.

Daelhi could be worth a fortune if he plays more, some of his touches Saturday were out of this world..and he never gives the ball away....

Paul, those are utterly ridiculous valuations for a team that has just got relegated (assuming we do)

Re: Tan is going nowhere if we stay up or go down

Mon Feb 17, 2014 1:20 pm

which is why i left him out, he hasnt played enough yet to command a fee, if we go down he will stay and surely be a star next season i reckon.

More like £50m in your opinion then. Gunnarson is also someone who could command a fee.

Loads of people have said "£40m is crazy" yet im yet to see anyone value them at less. £40m is peanuts for 12 or 13 players including the likes of Mutch, Medel, Caulker and Marshall.

Re: Tan is going nowhere if we stay up or go down

Paul, I think you've over valued a lot of those players. If we get relegated, the club will offload it's highest earners as soon as they can, and relegated clubs tend to get below face value for their top earners as they are keen to pass the responsibility for their salaries onto another club.

perhaps, im not sure well knowone is really,

also roathie, it depends how many of them we sell. If insistant that we sell a lot of players, im convinced we can command at least 30m in fees.

going back to what you said Mark, we paid 11m for medel and 8m for caulker and i have valued both of them less than what we paid, in their examples i cant see why we couldnt get around those figures.

Also, noone and mutch have been two of our better players, mutch's age and improvement in the last 12 months means i would be astounded if a) no one came in for him and b) we didnt get 6m for him.

its all conjecture really though isnt it.

in an ideal world, we will stay up, then sell both Medel (10m) and Gunnersson (4m) and go out and buy better with the cash.

Like you said Paul, we won't know what their value is until it comes to the time that they have to be sold. I remain optimistic, and still think that we may just about be able to avoid relegation, Saturday is obviously huge, and if we mess up there, I think it will be hard to remain so positive.

Re: Tan is going nowhere if we stay up or go down

Mon Feb 17, 2014 1:48 pm

Nobody can say the exact figure they will sell for, and i dont think anyone is trying to say otherwise. But we can make educated guesses based on performance, nationality, age and pedigree.

Relegation or not Medel, Caulker, Mutch and Marshall if sold just those 4 would fetch in the region of £20m-£25m. Common sense tells us this.

Two are young future England internationals that are nutoriously overpriced due to domestic player quotas. Marshall is the most on form keeper in the Premier league and Medel is one of the most overhyped players ive seen.

Once on the market clubs WILL want these players, whether you are in the championship or not is largely irrelevant.
