Did you watch the match vrs England he was the best player on the pitch and you are very up with our team for a Jack.

How many full games have you watched 1 ???

Canas cost nothing cos he is shit and nobody wanted him similar player where do you get that from how many caps does he have?

Cobblers! - he was shit against West Ham!

I think there's a few posters here who disagree with you, but I'm not one of them. He's a real disappointment for the money, creates nothing and if that's ok because he's meant to break things up defensively, then the fact we have the third worst defence in the Premier League suggests he's not exactly all that either.

You get all sorts on here!

I agree.medel is slow, can't see a forward pass and only passes to whitts. To me hes useless at times.comes short to get it from csulker or a full back and puts us under pressure. Worst is he only passes sideways. Reminds me of david batty lol

No didnt watch the England game. It matters little if he performs for chile though does it, you arent chile.

Considering we dont play the same times id say ive watched the majority of your games.

Its funny you call canas shit - yet he has better pass accuracy, defensive stats and attacking - what does that make medel??

Oh yes chilean, he must be good. Silly me

Moody/Mackay were totally tucked up there, terrible business.

At least Eikrem looks a great replacement, and at a fraction of the cost.

Can we have an enquiry into the transfer dealings last summer, it's all too strange.

This is a ridiculous post - OGS made a substitution which tends to happen every game and he brought on a new singing for a short run out

Moody/Mackay made a great signing here - you are a deluded if you think otherwise

Eikrem looks like a great replacement? for who?! Because medal controls our midfield, is a key player for us and will not be losing his place in our first team.

Love how you can say Eikrem looks good after 20 mins game time with a few passes and a shot straight at the keeper - he is just as big a transfer risk as Cornelius as they were both pretty much unknown in the UK but Cornelius was top goal scorer in his league..

An inquiry into what? I will reiterate that your post is ridiculous and i hope you think before you post anything else in the future

I'm glad you think he's a great signing. For £11m I don't, so we disagree. I see someone who's made 900 passes this year and is yet to have one assist. Apparently you think that's deluded. Again, I don't. No doubt you also think we got a bargain paying just £8m for Cornelius.

Well I obviously cannot argue with the stats you have provided there of 900 passes & no assists

However i'm not sure if you are familiar with footballing positions so i will make you aware that it is not the job of a defensive midfielder to set up goals left right & centre

It is his job however to distribute the ball to the team and protect the back four - so 900 passes is not to bad a stat to have?

You will be on Marshall's back because he is not scoring enough goals next

That defensive midfielder they call Yaya Toure - someone should tell him that getting forward, joining in the attack, creating goals and scoring the odd one himself is just not part if the defensive midfielders role.

I think you may have your defensive midfielder and your central defender mixed up, but don't let that worry you.  :laughing6:

Comparing Medel to one of the best players in the league is pointless. Toure is the exception, not the rule. It's like saying Begovic sets the standard for all goalkeepers because he scored a fluke goal that once. Marshall should be doing the same, right?

Glad to see from other threads so many sensible people agreeing with my view. Those few defending this extortionate purchase are way off the mark. For that money you expect more than a player who passes sideways and most longer passes are woefully accurate. Huddle stone was cheaper and better. End of.

Am a big fan of Medel. He's there to break up play when we're defending and be the link from defence to midfield when we're in possession. Nobody else in the side does this.

However I must confess to screaming out loud in frustration at the combination of Gary and Whitts.
Both have completely and utterly been responsible for killing any form of counter attack with slow sideways or backwards passes that allow the opposition time to get back into place.
I've said it before, but we rely soooo heavily on Mutch to be the one to get us up the park. He appears the only one with the vision and talent (with perhaps the odd exception of Noone and Kimbo) to do this.
Teams have already sussed out that you play a high defensive line, stop Mutch and you starve Campbell of service.

Early days but Eikrem seems to ball avoid or position himself where there are better options.
Daehli on the other hand could if given the playing time keep us up in this league. I believe he's that good. Will be very surprised if a top 4 club or foreign side doesn't make an offer in the summer.

He looks a bit fat to be fair.

He doesn't lack passion though.

He looks frustrated with Whitts. Put someone else with him and he might shine again.

Otherwise give him some marching powder and he'll soon be as thin as OGS.

Anybody still seriously prepared to dispute the OP?

Complete waste of money. He's in good company, every other a Summer arrival falls into the same bracket.

The combination of whitts and medel is too slow. Both lack pace. Eikrem looks like a whitts type player only younger. He is not fast either so I am unsure about him. If ogs stays he needs to buy some players with pace. if daehli stays he should be played in the hole behind a strong striker. He is better utilized in the hole than out wide as a playmaker.

This thread shows how little some CCFC fans know about football. Medel is pure class, absolutely run the show against Man City and the Jacks at home and looks class every time he plays for Chile.

Holding midfielders are always under rated by fans.

Medel is average because his performances are average. Whether this will change or not remains to be seen.

Roathy, you have to admit though that you can't envy his task playing for us. It can't be easy being of that quality when his teammates can't do anything with the ball.

Like I said, he's being asked by the manager to be a holding-midfielder similar to Obi-Mikel or someone like that....but Whitts is making him play a Pirlo role cos he won't accept the creative responsibility....not an easy task

Well you say "being of that quality" - im yet to see it so its hard to say. He plays in the easiest section of the field, he drops into the back 4 and plays 5 yard passes in a completely uncontested part of the field and yet his passing accuracy still is below 90% that both Canas and Britton have who play actually in central midfield in a fiercely congested and contested part of the field.

He looks very immobile to me, his concentration is not very good at all, he loses his man often, loses the ball more than he should and his tackling isnt all that either. This cant all be due to the players around him.

Easiest section of the field?

:laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5: :laughing5:

Clearly you've never played at any level what so ever. Getting the ball in tight areas under pressure and finding a pass is a great skill

Just two example of his masterclasses in midfield, he has generally been good all season for us.
