The notion of "franchising" in sports comes from the US. Basically in American sports the NFL, MLS, NBA and MLB have a governing body and they stipulate the "franchises" (the teams) and their locations. You could argue that the PL is similar since we know that club name changes need PL approval. Didn't stop MK Dons. But as we all know money talks whatever "franchise" we are working under.

Ultimately does the governing body, the PL, care about identities and locations? Only if the changes threatened their income. Hull City or Hull Tigers....? They probably don't care and if your governing body doesn't care what hope is there.

Don't forget we have only been investing in the playing side since Dave Jones left the club. We have not made any major sales yet. the £8m loss was promotion bonuses and contract triggers regarding transfer fees. If we didnt win the play off final we would have broken even as the £8m wouldnt have been owed. It is fine business management knowing the windfall of the Prem. however when you get there you cant ignore it which is seems is what Tan has done as hes spent £100m including wages since then. Thats all the Prem money and more where as we made a £16m profit with 40% less income from TV rights.

At the end of the day the debt becomes irrelevant while Tan owns, its his money and its him we owe rather than the banks. I think thats why the idea of running him out of town is a little crazy unless anyone can offer a real alternative.
