Gary Medel not a big name? One of the most well known players in Spain and highly regarded and linked to a number of teams in the past couple of seasons, Chilean international etc. I had heard of him long before we signed him.

Yes Finnbogason does, and if the money is right then why not

Maybe we can chuck in velikonja and cornelius

How many minutes has Cornelius played for us? How people can judge a player based on sod all game time is ridiculous really.

He played a per season game, a DVP game, an fa cup game, a few sub cameos and he looks shit to me, that's just my opinion of course it can be wrong, but that's my opinion from watching him

You've seen not even two full matches of him in total. No player no matter who they are can be judged after that amount of time. If he gets a run in the team I suspect he'll get a goal rate similar to Campbell.

I have. Daniel M is right. Medel is hardly an unknown player. I rarely watch La Liga but the plaudits he got were documented over here so that is how I knew of him. Never thought we'd ever sign him.

Magnus Wolff Eikrem (MWE), Mats Moeller Dahli (MMD), Mame Biram Diouf (MBD), Vergard Forren (VF) and Jo Inge Berget (JIB) have all been mentioned as potential signings, yes?

They ALL have the same agent, by the name of Jim Solbakken, who was also Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's agent when he was a player.

I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket here but I wouldn't be surprised if at least two of these turned up in the next 18 months!

Medel - I'd say that the majority of fans, at least the younger ones like myself, play FIFA and/or Football Manager, and was excellent on both of them too.

Also Diouf could be a good signing. Been very good since he's gone to Germany and looks like a big phsyical striker that we need.

Diouf and Eikrem

This Eikrem guy seems all but done, meanwhile I don't really see much in Diouf tbh, he's played enough games this season to bag 10 or more goals and he's only managed 5... do we really need another one of those?

Actually, correcting myself - he scored 17 in 37 games last season, not too bad, but he has only scored 5 in 14 this time around, so I'm not too sure of his reliability. A lot of money too, nearly 10 million euros...

No he's not. He was once tipped as one of the best Norwegian talents but his light has faded and looks like he's never going to reach the EPL/ Serie A / Bundesliga / La Liga level.

Håvard Nielsen and Mats Møller Dæhli are both already much better than him, younger and similar types.

Valon Berisha would at best fit in the Dutch or Turkish league.

Magnus Wolff Eikrem (born 8 August 1990) is a Norwegian footballer who plays for Welsh club Cardiff. Eikrem is known to hate Jack scum and this has been the main motivation for his move. According to Norwegian folklore he is quoted as saying 'the bluebird shits on the swan from above' which makes perfect sense from a logical perspective as the bluebird can fly but the useless swan cant. Eikrem is so good at football that he turned down Manchester United at a very young age and moved to Molde FK to help them win the league twice. Its thought that he has links to current Cardiff City player Peter Whittingham as he also does what he wants.
His regular playing position is in attacking midfield, though he can play anywhere across the pitch or planet Earth for that matter. He's most likely under your mattress right now doing keepy ups with such a delicate touch that you can't hear him. He is known to defy physics. Eikrem was born in Molde but its not known how as a meteorite hit Earth and he formed from the impact. This occurred in the Norwegian county of Møre og Romsdal, and he began his football career with his local club, Molde FK, before joining Manchester United at the age of 16 in 2006. Eikrem transferred back to Molde in January 2011, where Ole Gunnar Solskjær had become the new manager. Solskjær had also been Eikrem's manager at the Manchester United reserve team manager.[2] He joined Heerenveen in June 2013.

Hopefully he's the real deal!
Give the Dane a chance I can understand why people are frustrated with the amount of cash if he's not ready but just stay positive and have patience!
We could do with a striker now to be first on the sheet with Campbell and a LW!

From a Heerenveen twitter page (radio station I think)

"Eikrem almost certain to Cardiff City. Van Basten said Heerenveen had to sell"

Re: ' Magnus Wolff Eikrem '

Sun Jan 05, 2014 1:58 pm

After reading all the scouting reports it sounds like this man is Ollys star man

Re: ' Magnus Wolff Eikrem '

Sun Jan 05, 2014 2:25 pm

This guy has a sweet touch on the football. A real king when it comes to open up defences and get the passes to the target.
Van Basten paid quite alot to sign Eikrem from Molde and i doubt that he would done that unless he saw something special in him.
But Eikrem is not a finished product, he needs to adapt to the team and gain more muscles.
If he arrives id say we get a real bargain if we think a few years ahead.

Not necessarily

If we sign this kid then yes, I think so. Midfield would surely be:-

Noone
Medel
Eikrem
**new winger**

Mutch (just behind striker)

How wonderful, progress at last! Whitts following Malky!

Think its likely to be:

Medel
Eikrem
Mutch
Kim
Noone/ New winger

Sunday confirms Heerenveen manager Marco van Basten that Eikrem is heading to Cardiff.

- It is a pity that he's leaving because he has been important for us, says van Basten, according to the Dutch newspaper Leeuwarder Courant .

After the VG understand wanting Cardiff to Eikrem ready to play early as next weekend's encounter with West Ham.

Now that is what i call bullsh*t.

Valon Berisha and Håvard Nielsen are born the same year - AND, Valon is the only regular on Red Bull Salzburg of those two. Anyway, Nielsen will be playing for Bundesliga-side Braunschweig this year.
