Growing up following Cardiff City I always believed that we could average 40,000 plus if we ever reached top flight football.

Last season when we were runaway Champions, we struggled to get over 22,000 crowds.

This season in the Premier League as soon as we have played the likes WBA,Southampton(Boxing Day),Sunderland and even Newcastle, we could not sell out. Also during those games on average over 1,500 season ticket holders have not attended.

So next season if we stay when the novelty has worn off, what will happen then? Surely there will be more empty seats even if we did not go ahead with the increase in capacity.

I honestly can not believe how many empty seats there are for the not so attractive Premier Clubs and there are plenty more to come.

What also really worries me is, if we are Relegated what then?

If Tan continues to invest like he has dine then I expect the crowds will grow with the better playing squads we have and as expectation rises along with our competitiveness in this division

Several points, (My New Year Wish list!) and in no particular order:

1) If we returned to blue that would bring back a few thousand regulars, maybe more. Issue everyone with a blue and white scarf. Most would wear & bring again unlike the red!
2) If we CAN stay in the prem, stabilize the club, add a few more quality players and play more attractive football that would help too. Start beating the likes of Newcastle, Everton, Spurs and there'd be a bigger buzz.
3) The club needs to seriously improve its' marketing in Cardiff, the Vale and the Valleys - promos, school specials, etc.
4) A return to PROPER safe standing again would help.
5) We need a vastly improved ticketing policy and marketing. Agree with the the need to have a 'walk up' available.
6) Tan sell up to a wealthy backer who gives a sh*t about the club and listens to the fans.
7) A new manager who's like Mackay but more savvy with his coaching.
8) Win the FA cup again.

All these would make a regular 33,000 a no brainer, IMO

That's the problem with our fans spent yesterday abusing tan instead of supporting the team but January the first this board will be full of speculation as to who we are signing and the majority abusing tan will want him to spend that 25 million.

Most of the empty seats are in the family section. Isn't that down to the free season tickets for kids under the 5 year price freeze? If the seat is free then it doesn't matter if you don't go to some games.

The family stand vacant seats has a lot to do with the restrictions for the stand. No children without adults and no adults without children. Last year my daughter couldn't attend, so I phoned the ticket office upgraded from a child to an adult and took mt father in law.... This season, no chance he is not a gold member, but no gold member could get the seat as its a single and no adult without children.....

The dynamic pricing last year was a bloody disaster, Great stadium, crap marketing/ticketing, poor stewards, crap parking, poor food/beer, insane owner and the football has been poor.. Lets all kick the door down to get in

Thousands bought season tickets because we got promoted and now pick and choose which games to go to. Many didn't bother yesterday hence the empty seats. Get used to it. 34K? Would be embarrassing, why didn't we sell out for a whole season once in the championship? Until then, what is the point of expanding for the sake of three games a season.

I think the expansion is workable. You can't do a lot about people not turning up. I didn't go yesterday because I haven't been very well. As long as the ticket is sold it's income.

If you are a season ticket holder and you want to take to the match a friend or relative who usually lives away from Cardiff, then it is impossible to take them due to this gold scheme.

We are also not getting new people to come to matches using this system, not getting at you but would you go on a match day if you was not 100% sure of getting tickets.

When the stadium is increased some system has to be put in place for the casual spectator, and that is why I think that the expansion should go ahead

Annis it's always been that way. In the old old days we got massive attendances,then the club fell by the way side and they dropped off.

When we played Man City in the cup at Ninian Park what was the attendance?
18/19,000 odd, but the games before and after that match?

That's just the way football is, United wouldn't get 78,000 at home games if they were an unsuccessful yo yo team.



Every club has more plastic than die hards when they're successful. Which is why I'd rather have Cardiff Plastics than them plastic somewhere else...

I rem Man City game we got 20,000, next home game I think it was 6,000 approx, But I thought our fan base was so big nowadays that it would not matter who the opposition was and being a Prem Club, all matches would be sell outs and all seats with bums on.

I was never a David Temme(RIP) fan but his words seem to be proving right. " Cardiff fans Cherry pick games " he got slated at the time, including by myself, but was he right after all?

I think that statement is half right - CCFC have a large hardcore base and quite a large loyal following as well, but Cardiff has a lot of Liverpool/Man Utd fans who choose to go to the Cardiff City Stadium for the big games only.

Boxing day game being an example - lots of family & friends going for a Christmas day out to see a premier league game who aren't really Cardiff Fans.

I dont see a huge problem with that - football is to be enjoyed by everyone and I think that its great more people are taking an interest now we are in the premier league, but the large majority don't make the atmosphere at the stadium any more electric and we cannot guarantee a full stadium every game... think the expansion is going to be a waste of cash
