His team is flying so he'd come here highly motivated and confident. Plus he'd attract big interest and publicity and would have excellent contacts for new players both here and in Scandinavia where there's huge talent. He could be great for us.

Totally agree - good players very rarely make good managers. We can't judge him on winning the Norwegian league as it's like our conference FFS!

Someone with a proven pedigree that can put up with Tan's interference? Should be loads of candidates

Was in the relegation zone most of the first two three months. They were better in the second half of the season and won the Norwegian Cup. He's still learning!

Solskjær did indeed win the Norwegian League back-to-back. Due to winter, the norwegian league is played from spring to winter, and as such the whole season is played within a year. He won the league in 2011, 2012, and won the cup this year (with my local team, Strømsgodset taking home the title for the first time since the 70's). Solskjær's team Molde is owned by one of the richest men in Norway, and as such have solid spending power (but so does Rosenborg, and the owner is no way doing Chelsea/Man City sized investments). This season they started off terribly, but the norwegian league is very odd in this way. Teams that win the league usually struggle a lot the next season. The winners of 2005 and 2007 have been nowhere near winning it again, and the winner of 2008 has since relegated. This years winner (Strømsgodset) is one of the least resourceful teams in the top flight in terms of economy, and is a selling team - selling their best players overseas and to more resourceful domestic teams, like Molde. Tromsø, finishing second in 2011, and fourth in 2012 and the only norwegian team to reach the group stages of a european championship this year, were relegated.

Solskjær was the second manager to win back-to-back league titles since Rosenborg's domination - the only other manager to do so was Erik Hamren of Rosenborg, now manager for the Swedish National Team. Rosenborg has had a position in Norway the last 30 years, unlike any other top-flight that I know of. They won the league 13 times consecutively and also held the record of participation in the Champions League (8 times consecutively, Man United being the holders of the record from 2004).

The managers to come out of Norway recently is Ståle Solbakken, Henning Berg and Uwe Rösler. The first one had a hard time at Köln (messed up club) and Wolves (although I'm certain Wolves did wrong in sacking him), but did wonders with FC Copenhagen. Henning Berg's spell at Blackburn was hardly a success, but I never understood him being hired in the first place - he was never a particulary good manager in Norway (although the teams he managed were hard to do well with for several reasons) and the Venky's can be put in the Tan-category (Henning Berg famously said something like 'only an idiot would take the job at Blackburn' on Norwegian Television only a few weeks before he got the job). As for Rösler, I have the impression he has done well at Brentford and so far in Wigan.

From what I've seen in Norway Solskjær is capable of taking over Cardiff. One of the things that apparantly made him such a good super-sub at United was his ability to read and analyze the game whilst on the bench. My biggest concern with such a potential move is whether it is the right move for Solskjær - Tan does not give the impression of good working conditions, and growing up with Solskjær as one of my big heroes in the 90's, I want him to succeed in his managerial career as well.

Hope this helps to shed some light on Solskjær's time in Norway.

Managing a team in the Norwegian league is like managing in the Welsh premier League, his appointment will be a huge mistake.

There is huge talent on our doorstep in Wales, why fill our team full of foreigners

First of all, the Norwegian league is better than the conference, probably more like the championship (hard to compare, as the norwegian league has changed for the worse comparatively to other european leagues the last decade or so). That comparison is in any case of little consequence, as I think there are other things that are more important when it comes to managerial ability. The Norwegian league is of lower quality than the PL, but Solskjær is not going to play so that should hardly be an issue. I think the matter of winning mentality, keeping players happy and hungry, relationships with fans and players etc. I think Solskjær is a far more interesting choice for the squad as well - this is someone who succeeding on and off the pitch, a player they might very well have had as a favourite growing up. A man who knows much about modern football and can relate to the pressure the players face every match day. A lot of these old grey men can hardly relate to players in the same way, and is more likely to give players far more enthusiastic and self-confident - someone who is on the up, someone wanting to prove himself, which I think is much the same that many of the players in the squad feel. I think it is right to choose someone that can look like a step forward, rather then someone that is there to clean up the mess that Tan left the club in.

I would be happy with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. If he was appointed I reckon he should do his best to appoint Mike Phelan as his number 2. Was Fergies right hand man, they've worked on the same staff before and he is very experienced.

I'm definately biased, but with regards to Solskjær - don't worry, regardless of whether or not his hired. He knowns English Football (PL) as well as anyone. Who'd you rather have? Owen Coyle? Sven Göran Eriksson?

It certainly will be if this lunatic does'nt leave the club, he maybe a billionare but when it comes to common sense he's as thick as pig shite, we go into the xmas period & he rocks the boat, sacks the manager during that period & we have 3 of the toughest away fixtures possible coming up, just what a new manager would want.Splits our fan base right down the middle with his rebrand nonsense when we should all be united in milking every moment in the premiership, the guy's loop the fooking loop & is killing us.

I'm not sure who we should get, Harry Redknapp would be my choice even though QPR went down last year - I'm just not convinced about OGS.

I'm pretty sure Southampton fans would have taken the safe option of Harry Redknapp this time last year over the inexperienced, unknown Pochettino. That didn't work out too badly did it?
