Wow. They really are upset aren't they? Its just a shame that their away fans didn't show a bit more of this bitterness at the CCS. Not only the scruffiest bunch we've had down here but also, everything considered, the quietest. No songs. No passion. Nothing. And the freaks trying to intimidate the Family Stand were hilarious. Even the kids they were trying to scare were laughing at them. And what a way to get beaten - watched by 200 million viewers. Normal service has been resumed. :thumbright:

It's called trying to drag the opposition out of position and create gaps to exploit. You know, rather than just winning a free kick and hoofing it into the box :laughing6:

Granted it didn't work as you were more than happy to stick all your men behind the ball at home and hope for a set piece :thumbright:

Why is it that passing the ball around nicely tippy tappy is the 'right' way to play football? It does my absolute head in. You play to your strengths, simple as that. I don't see why every team is considered 'crap' or 'poor' just because they don't pass the ball to death each game. There were times in that game when I was literally wondering how you watch it week in week out, because you were doing absolutely nothing in terms of attack wise, just passing it around. If we get success from set pieces and playing the long ball direct to our forwards, how is it a 'poor' way to play? It's just playing to our strengths.

Because the ball goes into the midfield to Britton etc and they get tracked which drags the opposition around leaving gaps to exploit. Unfortunate of late we've been far too ponderous and conservative with this meaning that the opportunity to exploit any gaps disappears.

But then I'm sure you actually know and understand that as it's what we've been doing for years with great success.

Re: ok then

Re: ok then

My 7 year old can string better essays together in English and Welsh. Is there such a thing as secondary education in Swansea.

Re: ok then

Tue Nov 05, 2013 9:34 pm

Malky worked out how to counter-act it, as have several other managers. Just sit back and let Williams and Chico pass it back and forth and then flood in when the ball comes into your half. Look where medel played. it worked.

More difficult to play against if Swansea go 1-up mind as you have to push up.

It does seem it's first goal is a winner v the jacks as if the opposition score first Swansea don't look good a the back when they have to commit forward, neither centre half is either quick or particularly good in the air.

On the other hand if they score first then they have the players to exploit the gaps.

Personally I think the system is boring the way they are playing at the moment and would honestly prefer what we are doing (although maybe not at Norwich) and our system certainly isn't that great. 20 passes without leaving your own half - no thanks.

When their wingers are playing well and they do things at pace they look a lot better, but right now they seem very ordinary indeed and odd to see their players puyblicly blaming each other after the game (Shelvey and Chico the main targets).

Also I don't think it helps their system when they have that absolute donkey Shelvey in the middle, it seems like 3/4 of his passes are chipped, so the recipient has to bring the ball down, slowing down the move and needing an extra touch.

I wouldn't argue with much of that. What I would say is we certainly missed Ben Davies at left back and most importantly Pablo Hernandez as he has the ability to open up a team that is sitting back like no other player we have.

It would also help no end if Laudrup stopped playing Michu up top as he is wasted there.

Not in the 2nd half no you didn't. In the 1st half you most certainly did.

Whatever was said to our lot at half time should never be said again as we sat back and couldn't string two passes together.

But hey, since Sunday there have only been one set of fans who have been arrogant twats as you put it and you seem to be the cheerleading twat-in-chief :thumbright: . The vast majority of our lot have accepted we didn't deserve anything out of the game especially given that second half performance.

I've nothing at all to be bitter about. Disappointed? Certainly. Bitter? Nah. Life's far too short.

But then if you honestly believe your system is anything other than park the bus, hoof it forward, win free kicks/corners and hope to score from the set piece then you're deluded. :thumbright:

That said, it worked so hey ho, onto the next game.

The Pablo Hernandez who you said the other day wasn't good enough to make the first eleven?

Make your mind up mush. Hindsight is a wonderful thing

The one I said would be ideal to come off the bench and create chances if the scores were level you mean? As they were up to the hour mark by which point he would have been on.

All if's and maybe's though.
You never, we did.
1- 0 to the capital of Wales. :ayatollah:

If you honestly believed we"parked the bus"in the second half you're more bitter than I thought. I saw that phrase several times on planet simpleton last week. That blinkered cliche along with"Hoofball"needs to put on the back burner for a while :laughing6:

Outfought, out thought, out muscled and out passed in the second half to put you arrogant twats down a couple of pegs :laughing6:

Beautiful

Beaten by a better side. No need for the elongated bitterness

Like you say, there's always next time

Perhaps they could do the double with that supreme team they have?

Oh wait.... Perhaps we could ? :D

Can you remember how we won the corner that led to the goal? Was that a hoofball from medel to KCT?
Or how did we win the corner that led to our second goal against man city? Was that hoofed forward?

You make out the corners had come from lumping it forward and hoping for the best. Wrong.

You hate the thought that we can play football too, yet can mix it up,when required

You mean that world class hoof from Medel over the head of that cart horse Taylor or that 18 pass move which led to Gunnarsons equaliser against Man City? Pure Hoofball
