In what way has it changed? Im more than happy to add Gunnarsson if you want? If he ends the season breaking up more plays, passing more accurately, making more defensive plays and creating more chances than Medel then how could Medel possibly be performing better than him?

You have joined the thread and got frustrated that ive brought a reasoned argument against the signing of your cult hero who is doing no more ( in fact less) than Canas.

You have been asked and failed time and time again to explain how you think he performs better other some rubbish about caps.

You then have lied about canas being "3rd choice captain" to boot. You arent a bad poster but you have reverted to your old self and become a bit of a class clown on this thread...

Oh and....

Jose Canas has been linked with a move to Swansea after it emerged Real Betis were unlikely to offer him better wages than on offer in the Premier League.

As the current captain of the Seville-based club, Canas provides the stability in midfield alongside the attack-minded Benat. He’s a good enough passer of the ball but would bring a great deal of calm to Swansea’s midfield should the deal go through.

A bargain signing certainly, Canas would be the perfect complement and counter to the attacking nature of players like Michu and Pablo Hernandez.

Week 6

I have found another stat site that goes into a bit more detail, ill be combining them from here on in. The site is:- http://www.whoscored.com/Players/29390 and has some excellent statistical analysis from both games today from both team and individual performances.

Britton didnt play and Gunnarson (who some people suggested should be included) was in a more advanced role which distorts the stats of an out and out defensive midfielder. The updated stats are....

Jose Canas

Apprearances: 5
Pass accuracy: 91.7%
Interceptions per game: 3.4
Blocked shots per game: 0.6
Key passes per game: 0.2
Average pass count: 74.4

Total rating for position: 6.93

Gary Medel

Apprearances: 6
Pass accuracy: 92.3%
Interceptions per game: 2.2
Blocked shots per game: 0.3
Key passes per game: n/a (none i guess)
Average pass count: 51.8

Total rating for position: 6.72

Roath, what site is the first set of stats from?

Not sure about that latest one, which has Giroud, Ramsey and Ozil as the top three defensive players in the league.

This has really upset you hasnt it.

The only differences i see on them is that the last one didnt allow complete accuracy and used "rounding" this one is more precise as it uses a complete decimal system.

If you dont like the thread you dont have to post on it you know? You are currently displaying all the traits you accuse others of when describing how they are ruining the site. (You still havent posted the link or admitted you lied regarding canas being "3rd captain for Betis  ) it seems you realise i have a point here judging from your other thread this morning

Interesting.

More proof you cannot trust these stat sites as gospel.

Whos score point system give canas a rating of 6.99 and medel 6.72 yet Skwaqa give medel an overall performance rating of 140 to Canas 112.

Call me cynical but may explain why all of a sudden the source got switched from skwaqa to whosscore.

hmmmmmm.

Didnt see it. However you have displayed a complete U-turn in your thought that stats are useless, call me a cynic but this could be because Medel played well yesterday

Ive stated from the start the most important areas for a defensive midfielder is breaking up the play, defensive duties, passing and keeping possession. These are the traits you will be told are true to a defensive midfielder by anyone who knows their onions.

Ive simply stated the stats regarding those. However the fact these sites cant make up their mind who is better sort of proves my point doesnt it....

What does Bony bring to the table that Campbell doesn't?

What does Shelvey bring to the table that Gunnarsson doesn't?

I seem to remember you paid a lot of money for these two players, when we picked our two up for next to nothing.

Your arguments are flawed mate

Dont know, havent seen enough of either to make a judgement. Bony has a great goalscoring record so hopefully he will continue that with us, he has 5 in 8 so far or something similar doesnt he.

Shelvey brings a range if passing that i havent seen Gunnarsson display. Time will tell

Yes, someone who scores goals in rubbish leagues but flops when it matters. Jason Scotland...proud owner of 1 Premier League goal.

That would get me chuckling for sure

Apologies, I stand corrected - Jason Scotland, proud owner of none, zero, zilch Premier League goals

Week 6 - Swansea yet to play.

Seems Medel had a lot more of the ball than usual with his pass count into the 90's, but his accuracy and ball retention was not to his usual stanard resulting in most of his stats taking a hit today. The updated stats are....

Jose Canas

Apprearances: 5
Pass accuracy: 91.7%
Interceptions per game: 3.4
Blocked shots per game: 0.6
Key passes per game: 0.2
Average pass count: 74.4

Apprearances: 7
Pass accuracy: 91.4%
Interceptions per game: 1.9
Blocked shots per game: 0.3
Key passes per game: n/a (none i guess)
Average pass count: 58.4
