I chatted with Taylor, Huds and Ben Turner last year down the Vale for quite a bit. We were doing
some work there. it was the first thing my mate brought up. We were laughing about it. Banter it
is. Nothing more. They love it here. Cardiff is the most Cosmopolitan City in britain. But when we
play English teams they call us sheep-shaggers, and we call them dirty English bastards. The banter
is no worse than you'll hear on any large construction site in Britain every day. But the sick f**k
lefties would probably try and get pamphlets out to sites too

The way I go about explaining it is this; Some people like to watch opera to de-stress, some like to watch emmerdale, some like to have a few pints, some like to take drugs. Me? I like to go down the City watch the footy and collectively with my 'tribe' take the piss out of people from a different tribe from a distance.

It's mostly harmless. If any football fan takes offence to a football chant sang by the opposite fans then they are probably in the wrong place.

We sing 'Always shit on the english side of the bridge' - does anyone cry? No. They sing 'should have built a wall and not a bridge' back.
What would you rather we sang? 'Gosh, don't we all get along regardless of what side of the bridge we originate from'?

I would even argue that the chanting aimed at Brighton fans isn't homophobic as such because we don't know and don't care if there are or aren't gay people attending when it is sung it is merely fun being poked at a stereotype.

The only offensive chanting that exists in football is actual racism toward players and anti-sectarian/nazi chanting that exists but is never heard in our part of the world.

Until the chants turn spiteful it's completely fine with me! :ayatollah:

Taking the piss out of your mate because he's black ginger asian white gay Welsh, English etc etc
is just that. its taking the piss and having a laugh. Its what we do in Britain. If it gets malicious and
nasty then thats a different matter. But wolf whistling Brighton fans? FFS who the f**k can be getting
upset about that. Being Gay in Britain is no longer a stigma unless they want to be martyrs and play
the victim. f*cking get on with it. If I take the piss out of a gay lad and he calls me a sheep-shagger
which is the most offensive?

spot on.iv mates of different skin colour, religeon and sexual tastes .im a christian myself but don,t need to bring it up every 5minutes .the only time on here iv talked about it if there is a thread about it.if i couldn,t converse with all people of all kinds then i,d be missing the point of my faith tbh.there is some truely great humour in the uk.daft as it sounds this mb has made me more interested in wales.i holidayed in gower last year so i could go to blues v ccfc and meet some of the lads off here.great day.annis aberham-welsh tourism officer

its time we hold ourselves with a strong level of maturity in the PL and be careful as to how we want to be seen as a club

also lets not Piss off our star England international defender with our often seldomly used Anti English malarky this year,

He was good enough to come here and we should respect the fact that he holds england high in his regards as well as cardiff city. as potentially any new players we sign will be fighting for an international place,
This could also be an added reason to not want to come to cardiff city if we get bad publicity in the papers,
as they will more than likely treat us like serbia if we are chanting anti english on MOTD

Are the English actually one specific race? Time for some to end ancient stereo types of the the english being racially pure i think

For over 30 years I have watched the city and in that time we have always had some good banter with other teams from over the water and for me and many others thats all it is.

Take the banter away and for me football would be a boring game to just sit there with no chanting it makes the whole atmosphere at a game makes each game special and some more than others.

When we go to teams like West Ham do you think they will just sit there singing jolly good show way hay no they will not .

People are changing football more people with money are going to football more people want the hospitality seating at games they want a meal be treated special etc.To me if you offered me a hospitaliy seat which I have I would say NO because I dont want that at football games to me its bollocks.

All I want is a bit of banter between both sets of fans a damn good atmosphere and a good game of football which we win well thats the hope anyway.

That is what football is and always has been so anybody that dont like it and is trying to change it go and watch Cricket you will find what you are looking for watching Glamorgan.

We have gone from pissing standing on the terrace with nothing more than a drink of oxo to bmw cars parked on sale by the main entrance with tickets that serve you posh food with posh people and a posh seat and its those people that are changing football we were here first if you dont like the banter go watch horse racing leave us the f**k alone :ayatollah:

The posh people actaully like the edgey atmosphere at football, that's why they got involved, It's just a minority of socialist control freaks and money men who see the future of football as nothing more than a fake TV spectacle for asian arm chair fans.:thumbright:

I like us showing our Welsh pride, but I'd prefer we were pro-Welsh rather than seem to hate England more than we love Wales. Anti-English chants are boring.

At the Play Off Final, Newport and Wrexham fans both sang our anthem, and then booed "God save the Queen", which to me was ridiculous. My old man was fumin as he served in the Royal Welsh Fusiliers for many years. But it was funny seeing how all the stewards at the game were angry.

However singing songs at a football match is banter "Always shit on the English side of the bridge" is not offensive to English people. It's banter between neighbours and you even see it on this board between parts of Cardiff! A few blokes sit next to me and my friends from the Valleys, the abuse we throw at each other in good nature about where we come from is part of being friends.

Do you really think English people think we shag sheep? No. Besides Jeff is from the midlands and a top bloke despite being an English b*stard! :ayatollah:

The problem we have here is that we are allowing banter to be driven out of the game by worrying about the PR bullshit.
I'm an ex serving soldier also, have as many English, Scottish and a few Irish mates who have been good mates as much as my Welsh muckas.
When I call my Scottish mate a "tight Jock Prick" he doesn't take it personally, likewise my English mates being called a cockney c**t or whatever....you get the drift i'm sure.
I have no problem at all in being called a Welsh sheepshagger in fact I would expect it and see it as banter amongst fans. I'm sure that the players we have are not that withdrawn from reality either that they don't understand terrace banter.

FFS it's not personal, Certainly not racist and I personally think this is getting out of order.
We are Proud patriotic Welshmen and we play against proud patriotic people from whichever country they belong.

Chip on their shoulders was the correct terminology to use....ignorance would be another because i personally have as many English mates as I have Welsh and I unfortunately know as Many Welsh Dickheads as I know English ones.
When it comes down to it....we are all the same. Banter is Banter.
