Where do you get your information from ? Based on statistics Cardiff City attendances werent affected one bit by Swansea City's promotion to the Premier League.

I know plenty myself who switched allegiance. I know 2 fans who switched to Swansea after they went up and were fed up of us being 'bottlers' as we were known then. I know of 2 who went to support Spurs. On CCMB due to the rebrand another fan auctioned off his support - you may deem that as unrelated but to me its an excuse for a way out. Some fans were just waiting for something to happen to offer them a way out because they were fed up and tired of the club just missing out, being branded bottlers and the nearly team.

Thank God players like Kev, Marshall, Hudson and Whittingham didn't think the same way and carried on believing we could do it. You could tell just by walking around the City itself the increase in Swansea fans was rife. Im not trying to argue, I saw it but instead I got abused by 6 Bysedd and then waddle so I retaliated. I don't care what the Jacks have to say on anything. I know of fans who went west and I know the same fans will be crawling back as we progress. I also know if both us and Swansea got relegated down a division and started struggling these fans would go and support someone else. They may be plastic fans but they're still fans and whether we agree that they're real fans or not they still generate money and the longer we hold on to the plastics the better for us financially.

We could debate all day whether these people are real fans or not. The crux of the matter is modern fans have come along with modern football. The likes of Polo, Annis, bluebird1977, Gwyn and so on won't relate to these new fans. The older generation of fan was brought up on religious loyalty. They'd fight in the streets for their team and did, hence our reputation. Whether you agree with that or not, that was a sign of the times.

There are of course new fans who'd do the same and i'm not saying any different but there are a lot of fans today up and down Britain who would quite happily support another team just for Premier League football. There are just as many fans who get up with supporting a Premier League team influenced by family and go and support their local team instead. I was brought up in a Liverpool household and my house is still mostly Liverpool. Ask bluebirdbaz if you like as he knows my father. I decided not to support them any more as I grew older so went down the City.

There are far more fickle fans today than there were in the old days and that's a fact and a product of the modern game we must accept. Even footballers themselves have become more fickle yet there are still some loyal ones and no one is disputing that at all. I wonder why Swansea's attendances dropped the second season in the Prem. Its because all the fickle fans, some of whom used to be Cardiff City fans went down west to have a season of Premier League football because they couldn't wait.
